Changed to new oestrogen - now have rage!

I switched to oestrogen gel today. I was on patches before. I have a newly fitted mirena. Today I have snapped so many times at DH and DC. Far more than normal. Is this coincidence? Would the rage kick in that quickly?

I did have bad rage before I went on HRT but normally only on the run up to my period.

Depends which one you're in but if it's the newly packaged besins oestrogel the chances are it's not working. There's a ton of threads on here about the issue. I've doubled my dose and still getting a lot of symptoms that were gone prior to the repackaged version.

I complained to Besins last year and reported through the yellow card scheme, I recently had an email saying they've been investigating the product and found nothing amiss!

It’s more likely to be the newly fitted Mirena - have you had one before? If so, it may well settle as your system gets used to the smallish dose of progesterone it delivers.

I’ve used Oestrogel for years now and been through all the different packaging. I can honestly say that I’ve noticed no difference in effects. There are so many physiological factors involved in both peri- and post- menopause that can affect your reactions and mood that it’s difficult to pin down causes.

Medical guidance is that any new HRT needs 3 months to settle down @Moominbananas You've changed the type of progestin and the format of gel.

Like @borntobequiet I've used estrogen gel for years and been through about 4 types of different bottles. So far I've not noticed any difference although in future I'm going to count the number of applications I get from the new bottles. The amount dispensed seems slightly less but it may be an optical illusion.
One factor that makes me think there is no real difference is I still have withdrawal bleeds (by choice) and they are no lighter or shorter, which they would be if the gel was 'weaker'.

Same happened to me when I went from patches to gel. I stuck it out for a while but I felt dreadful so I switched back and everything calmed down.
