Hello

Would someone be able to recommend a few tried and tested Menopause specialists in London other than Mr. Panay. Nothing against him - I just want to have a few options which my insurer (Vitality) might cover and who also have availability soon-ish.

I have been on HRT for a year (GP prescribed) but cycles are a little erratic (shorter, usually) and I have been getting breakthrough bleeds. Would like to get checked properly.

Just to answer part of your question...have you checked with Vitality that they cover menopause? My private insurance doesn't if it's something like tweaking HRT. Most won't as it's not considered an illness.

I'd check with them first before you do anything, or be prepared to pay for the consultations.

Most are in the region of £300 and private scans the same.

I don't, but I'm commenting both to follow for interest and also to boost the post in the hope more people will read and suggest.

I go to the Newson clinic - but it's not covered by my insurance, I didn't think many insurances would cover HRT?

I don't need hrt covered just a consultation on dose etc. Already on hrt from GP

It's the same thing though- whether you want to start HRT or want to discuss and change the dose. It all comes under 'menopause' and most insurers won't cover it.

They cover gynaecology but that doesn't include monitoring or adjusting HRT (which is considered ongoing and not an illness.) If you had a consultation on the dose, you'd probably need a review within 3 months as well.

Best thing to do is talk to your insurance company and check.

If they say no, you'll need to decide if you can pay for it yourself or go back to your GP.

Thank you. Assuming my insurer does cover it, please can someone recommend a good gynaecologist who is a menopause specialist.

I'd suggest you talk to Vitality first as IF they cover menopause they may have their own list that you have to choose from.

They aren't as flexible as other insurers on lots of things.
