I have been on Elleste Solo 1mg for 20 years for a total hysterectomy and my GP won't prescribe it for me anymore. Tried gel and patches - both not keeping hot flushes and sweats away. What do I do?

Why? What's the history to this?

@Branch1 If you are over 60, the choice is transdermal. The risks with tablets is stroke, for older women.

Gel and patches will work - you just need to find the right dose and persevere for at least 3 months.

You can use up to 4 pumps of gel a day but as you're perhaps over 60, your needs may be less than someone younger.

I am 70 in a couple of weeks which is why they won't prescribe it anymore.

@branch1 I have had the same surgery as you and am just restarting HRT after coming off estrogen only implants. The equivalent dose in patch to your 1mg elleste solo would be a 50mcg patch or 2 pumps of Estrogel. Is this the dose that you were given, and how long did you give esch to adjust? It can take a while for the body to get used to a different delivery method of HRT but if your dose wasn't similar, this wouldn't have helped.
