HI all,
Anyone experiencing or had experienced long periods? Mine is heavy for a couple of day, then gradually lighter and spotting on and off. In total about 14 days. Is it perimenopause related? First time I had this.
Any answers would be appreciated.

Yes, sounds very likely. Peri can play havoc with your cycle in all sorts of ways, including spotting for days and days on either side of the period, so it feels as if you've been on for far longer than usual. It's your hormones in flux. Are you experiencing other symptoms, or is it just your cycle that's changed?

Hi OnionBudgie , thanks for the reply. Last month I was having loose stools, not upset stomach or abdominal pains. Going at least twice in the mornings. Now I am more relaxed, but stools a little soft. Also feel a bit heavy at the bottom. Hard to describe. I have gone to the Balance App. May have symptoms like IBS. Maybe need to check and watch what I eat. I am taking probiotics. I had Tinnitus and dry eyes early this year, moods swing and anxiety. Also majority of time lack concentration and can't focus well. I've gone better after a few months. I have been having heavy periods for a few years and only this year started taking Tranexamic acid. Also I was anaemic and had to take Iron supplements. Are you still Peri or menopause now? How did you cope? Is it a sign I'm coming to menopause?
Chat soon. Ta. 🙂

Oh, forgot to mention. I had the urgency to go to the toilet a lot. Now it has calmed down.

Lots of things change I think. Keep a note of what is changing for you and see how you can tweak your self care. Also try supplements. Get plenty of rest where you can and ease through it. I didn't have too bad a time at all. I found Menopace supplements really helped.

All of those symptoms sound like peri. You can (usually) tell when you're approaching the end because you will start to have longer gaps between periods until eventually you stop altogether. One year after your final period, you're officially in menopause.

I'm still in peri, but approaching the end, I sincerely hope. I'm 54. My cycle is all over the place, and I'm experiencing some digestive issues (constipation) even on a healthy vegan diet with a ton of fibre. Grr! It's a nuisance. I tend to suffer a particular symptom for a few months, then it will disappear and an entirely different symptom will pop up to take its place. Nothing debilitating, just annoying. Can't wait for it all to be over.

I have found it is reassuring reading and learning from other women who are experiencing or had experienced problems/symptoms regarding Menopause.
I'm 53, patiently waiting ... I have stop eating junk food and chocs, until my hormones is back to normal. I don't drink tea, coffee and hardly eat red meat. Tried to eat more veg and fruits, but when I had the loose stools, this prevent me from eating them. Instead I had to eat white starchy food, which is not good. This week I have been eating more green vegetables and fruits. Also yogurt and sometimes Kefir, probiotics food. Are dairy good? Need the calcium and vitamin D. I have found myself underweight. Also need to gain muscles and strength. I wonder if anyone taking Collagen, Bone broth, Naturya vegan supplements? I like to try Menopause supplements, but wary about the ingredients that affect people who are Estrogen Dominance. I have found 2 colleagues take Estrogen HRT, because they lack Estrogen. This is not what I want. My friend who is Peri too, can eat what she wants. Coffee in the mornings, a lot of processed food and she has no symptoms at all. Lucky her!
Chat next time. Take care all. 🙂

I was first couple of months after coil insertion 9 days bleeding very unusual for me prior periods over in hours/1 day in 2022 but no one would listen.

Coil removal abandoned today as peri has now hit the vagina skin - atrophy mentioned skin very dry and sore to carry on would be torture. A removal needs to be under sedation. What amazing things the coil has done for peri…
