How can I make them (femseven) stick before I have to give up and change to gel?

I’m sure you’re already doing this but I apply them to the top of my outer thigh, on clean, dry, un-moisturised skin. I don’t touch any of the sticky side, just peel off half the plastic and stick that half on, then peel off other plastic and press it all on from non sticky side. I’m hairy, so make sure area is smooth. I clean off the black sticky marks the patches leave with a bit of olive oil . I’m a sweaty person but occasionally the very edge of one side might peel very slightly towards the end of each use, I’ve had no problem. I use use everorel conti ones. Do yours always not stick properly or is it in this heat?

ArgonautCycle · 27/06/2024 16:46

What @DayIntarnishedarmour said. Also avoid areas that might mean the edge of your knickers rubbed against the patch. But the clean, dry, unmoisturised skin is key.

I got some clear wound dressing plasters from amazon and would cut one in half and stick over the top. Worked like a charm. I've added a pic of patch (I hope!)both sides peel off to leave a clear film it was a game changer ☺️

I've had four different brands of patches over the last year and the ones you mention, FemSeven, are the only ones that don't stick. I think it's a problem with the glue or something. Some lasted less than 24hrs before they fell off!
I don't have that issue with any other brand I've had so I know it's not my skin or how/where I'm applying them.

My pharmacy agreed not to get me FemSeven again (as long as they can get other brands of course, there are still occasional supply issues).
Ask your pharmacy if they can give you another brand next time and see if they work better for you.

I also use these and they work brilliantly once you get they hang of putting them on

Musicaltheatremum · 27/06/2024 17:09

I was given femseven. They were awful. So back to estraderm which are usually great. The GP had prescribed Estradiol twice weekly -which is not the femseven patch as that is a once weekly preparation- so fortunately I had plenty of patches.

Glad it’s not just me. Have recently started HRT and the patches always seem to end up crinkling no matter where I stick them.
Going to try the tattoo coverings over the top to keep them down!

isthismylifenow · 27/06/2024 17:26

I'm in a hot country so we have to keep ours in the fridge. I have found that if I have taken it out of the fridge a little while before I am going to use it, it is less sticky.

So try put them in the fridge and out it on when it's still cold. Maybe this may help.

2old4thisshit · 27/06/2024 17:29

Mine isn’t too bad, unless I get very hot and sweaty, but I think I must be intolerant to them as they raise the skin underneath and it is so itchy. Mine are Everol. Has anyone else had this issue?

Piggywaspushed · 27/06/2024 18:11

Yes,very much so. I haven't found a patch I am not allergic to.

Yes, I have a few allergies and find that I sometimes (not always) react to Evorel.
I've never reacted to Estradot though, they're my patch of choice.
It's like winning the lottery when I pick up my patches each month if I open the bag and there's Estradot in there 😂

Piggywaspushed · 27/06/2024 19:25

I'm also allergic to Estradot- just a smaller itchy site...

Misthios · 27/06/2024 19:26

Different patches seem to stick differently. Evorel stuck the best to me but also gave me a really bad rash. A friend who used femseven used to have to tape them in place with surgical white tape.

pancakestastelikecrepe · 27/06/2024 19:33

I have this problem, too. I've used surgical tape (which also causes irritation) over the top but the stickiness seems to dissipate after a day, come away from my skin and appear cloudy- if that makes sense? Also tried various areas of backside, thigh and above my groin...

Goldenphoenix · 27/06/2024 19:36

I use a different page but I find heating the patch with a hairdryer just before I put it on melts the glue slightly and keeps them stuck on better.

Goldenphoenix · 27/06/2024 19:37

Patch not page. Flipping autocorrect

Get yourself some Opsite Flexifix roll wide enough to cover the patch. Then cut a bit and tape over the patch.

Worked brilliantly when I had Estraderm which fall off as soon as you look at them. Taping them with micropore tape (the white tape) didn't work at all.

pancakestastelikecrepe · 27/06/2024 19:44

*I'm on Femseven.
Is anyone aware of an oral combined? After a disastrous attempt on Ustrogen and Lenzetto along with mini pill, my GP was of view the peaks and troughs of progesterone were not good for me (severe feelings of despondency) and she prescribed Femseven.
I have a review on the 2nd and so any advice/info gratefully received as GP very good and open to my thoughts

pancakestastelikecrepe · 27/06/2024 19:45

@AnnaMagnani thank you
