Estrogel - Rub It In Or Not?

SebastianFlytesTrousers · 26/06/2024 10:15

I'm seeing my GP this afternoon to see of I can give Estrogel another try as I am still unsure about starting tablets (patches of all types are a no - tried all and serious skin issues).

I can't seem to get a definitive answer as to whether you rub it in or not. Newson Health video shows rub right in, other sources say smooth on and allow to dry.

Apologies if this has (probably) been discussed before previously here.

Thank you.

I just put it on in a thin layer on my thighs (the outside) and by the time I'd put my moisturiser on my face and brushed my teeth etc it would be dry. I liked the gel.

Ask for Lenzetto - it's a spray that you put on your inner forearms, dries in seconds. Much better than oestrogel Grin

I rub it in lightly and one pump dries in over a large area. (My thigh).

@RedPandaFluff I've tried this and it wasn't any good for me even at 3 sprays. My NHS menopause clinic consultant says it's low dose and some women don't absorb it well (i.e. if you're a bit heavier, as stated in the product information). I'm not heavy but I have had both ovaries removed, so symptoms are more severe than natural menopause.

You should 'rub it in' only enough so that is doesn't leave a thick layer that takes ages to dry.

The very old packing used to say use the leaflet (in the box) as a template.
This showed the total area for application was about the size of an A4 sheet.

So, that would be both upper outer arms or inner thighs or both if you use 3 or 4 pumps.

You don't rub away madly so it disappears. You rub it (or smooth it) so it's still tacky and wait 5 mins for it to dry. I've never counted by my estimate is that I do about a total of 5 'strokes' on each upper arm (up and down).

Oh, you put it on your arms?

I've just switched from patches and had assumed below the waist like patches?

soberfabulous · 26/06/2024 18:17

I slap mine onto my thigh and then attend to my facial serums and creams. It's usually dry by the time I've done this 🤪

Read the leaflet in the packaging. Full instructions are there.

Yes I lightly rub 2 pumps in (1 per inner thigh) and like others - once I have done the rest of my bathroom faffing it is normally dry enough to get dressed.

I don’t rub it in as much as body cream - more like skim over it to create a thinish layer

Thank you everyone for sharing how you apply yours and tips, too. My GP was very happy to prescribe me Estrogel yesterday and I've just picked up my prescription for 2 canisters to start today. I feel much, much happier with starting it over tablets!

Good news @SebastianFlytesTrousers
I use two pumps. Like the others I let it dry in while I do my face. It only takes a few minutes to dry in. I hope you get on well with it. I have found it good.
