Buddha belly be gone, weight stopped increasing- Miracle testosterone

Ive been reading all your stories in desperation to manage Peri and its evils better, but had to join mumsnet today, to share my experience, there may be some hope still ladies! 😀

Peri since 40 (2 years), multiple GPs appointments and tests, HRT for 14 months, estrodiol and progesterone. 2 stone weight gain, particularly abdo and a myriad of typical and stranger symptoms (sensitive teeth, seriously, wtf is that one about?). Max Estrogel dose eventually fixed most bar weight gain, Buddha belly, hair loss, dry skin and muscle weakness (and libido if anyone asks 😜). All Health tests normal - and I had a laundry list, some of which GP was surprised at. I was unashamedly a 'Karen'!

Ordered testosterone via superdrug despite not being particularly low (0.8 to 1.2 ish from multiple bloods), had to quote libido to get it, and within a week or so of using it the fat has redistributed, stomach almost back to flat - it's amazing, I feel like a woman again!! Hair loss stopped, energy / zest back and I've stopped gaining weight, which was happening despite eating healthily, limiting carbs, and regular exercise!

I know everyone is different and it might not work for all but if my experience helps just one person in the torment of Peri I'm happy!

Thank you all for your insightful posts, they've helped inform my discussions with multiple doctors, to get me to this point 😀

Note, I'm really shit at replying, but will try to remember to check!

Hi @Peribuddhabod I too TRIED getting testosterone from Superdrug - can't even get through to GP these days - but they wanted me to do a fingertip blood test and I struggled with it, couldn't fill the tube, sample was untestable ('haemolysed') How did you manage it?

LunaNorth · 13/06/2024 18:54

Thanks OP, I’ve ordered some. You might just have changed my life.

You lost me at this misogyny.

I agree.

LunaNorth · 13/06/2024 19:10

OP has apologised. Can’t we leave it?

How long do you think the benefits will last, OP? Do you still expect to have a flat stomach at 50 or 60 or 70, I wonder if potential benefits depend on a lot of other factors like BMI or age.

I had a huge stomach ever since I started perimenopause 12 years ago at 46. I just kind of grew!

I've recently lost 3 stone ( have to starve myself on 1000 calories to even lose a pound a week) I've got a flat stomach again, but I'm sure it's partly down to HRT. Fat cells contain oestrogen and our bodies desperately try to create it. It doesn't happen to everyone but it certainly happened to me.

Testosterone has done nothing at all for my belly, however it has really helped with the brain fog !
I use Androfeme (private prescription, imported from Australia) as my skin can't tolerate the UK male-targeted testosterone products.

I always have trouble with the fingertip tests - I find that swinging my arms around for a couple of minutes first and rubbing my hands & fingers together to get the blood flowing really helps.

AInightingale · 14/06/2024 12:25

Thanks @TravelInsuranceQ , I will do ten minutes running on my running board thingy and try again! It's such a tiny little lancet and quite a silly idea really.

Peribuddhabod · 15/06/2024 09:33

@AInightingale - I usually struggle with the finger prick tests too but I followed the instructions to the letter on my last one and it worked like a dream.... I did 10 minutes on the treatmill, drank over a pint of water, put my hands in warm water and then did start jumps. Good luck 😀 x

@Noname99 - after a decline in strength despite consistent efforts, I am getting back to my previous strength / stamina too which I assume is the testosterone (boxercise, HIIT, Resistance training etc) - there is hope on this front too 🤞😀

I am not 100% convinced but after doing a bit of reading and considering I have decided to try the Superdrug online thing and have ordered some testosterone. It’s the libido more than anything which has driven this decision so I hope it’s effective and firing cause too many other side effects. I was surprised that Superdrug just allowed the sale, no questions and no blood test? Is that right? I had to send a screenshot of my ID but nothing else. Does this mean later in the prices it will be blocked until I have done the bloods?

AInightingale · 16/06/2024 12:44

Yes, I paid for it then got a message to say I needed to send a blood sample, I have been sent a replacement one to do now, as the first attempt got arsed up. If you are in a part of the UK with a Superdrug nearby that provides this service (ie a proper venous blood sample) this would be a better option, as trying to get blood from a fingertip is damnable! Unfortunately, there is nowhere near me that does.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/06/2024 13:17

@AInightingale thank you, I won’t wait for them to review my order then, I may as well order the testing kit now.

AInightingale · 16/06/2024 17:27

It's £50 for the test @thenewaveragebear1983 as far as I can recall, but I don't think I have even paid for the cream. Must check account. Private medicine is an expensive nightmare.

A doctor has to review the order before it is authorised and if you're not already on T, they want a blood test - seems strange that your payment went through without it, maybe cos you ordered at weekend?
