Gepretrix vaginally

Hi!
I’ve read that taking progesterone vaginally can lessen side effects, it’s not licensed that way and my GP said to take it orally. I take 2 x 100mg from day 15 to day 26. I was wondering does any one take it vaginally? And if so is it the exact same tablet and dose as the oral ones? I know you can get specific vaginal ones but I don’t have those!
thank you

I take it vaginally, as orally made me too tired and down. I did that for a month’s course, then had a 3 month follow up with my GP who said she was happy for me to take it vaginally. Said lots of women do, even though it’s not licensed, but it works just as well. She did suggest a Mirena in the future but that’s not for me and she was fine with that.
ETA exact same tablet and dose. Gepetrix, the beige oval ones.

Thank you! Is it 2 x100mg you take like me? Sorry to be crude but do you just literally shove both up there?? 😬

Yes, 2 x 100. And you can indeed just shove them up there. As far as you would with a non applicator tampon, I’d say. I haven’t found them too messy either. I put them in in the evening.
GP has had input into the Balance app, is a menopause specialist, so I trust her judgement. She didn’t recommend a vaginal alternative - don’t think they are licensed for menopause either, just fertility treatment.

That is so helpful thank you! Sometimes I get so confused with it all 😩 I will give it a go tonight…. Thanks again

You are welcome! I had trouble finding an answer about Gepetrix specifically when I wanted to switch, so glad I can help. It definitely reduced unwanted side effects for me but monthly bleeds have stayed lighter than before so I assume it’s still doing its job.
