Has anyone tried the yesyesyes brand?

Haven’t had sex with DH for nearly two years. Libido dropped off a cliff (after a very intense month or so when I felt like a dog on heat) (obv the last hurrah) and I suffered with dryness for the first time ever which put me off.

He has been very patient but I feel I should try and address this … we’re only mid 50s so it’s young to be sexless. Particularly now we are empty nesters …. I longed for more time for intimacy when I was younger 🙁

I don’t want to go on HRT as no other symptoms really so thought I’d try a lubricant and came across this brand. Seems natural with good reviews. Anyone tried it?

I haven't tried it yet but I do have a tube on order.

I'm in surgical menopause and not on proper HRT (cancer). I was given Replens to try which is similar to yesyesyes. It didn't really work for me and the only thing that has worked are Vagifem pessaries which my GP was happy to prescribe. It's a very, very low dose of oestrogen and isn't even classed as HRT. Might be worth trying OP.

A friend of mine has recommended it to me. It’s done wonders for her. I’ve not had time to look at it yet myself.

I'm also not allowed HRT. I was looking at Gina but my dr said no.
She has offered anti depressants for the hot sweats but I think I'd rather put up with them.

I'm using ovestin ( local cream hrt) and also Yes moisturizer. The lubricants from yesterday are also excellent

JinglingSpringbells · 25/05/2024 09:00

@FrenchandSaunders Is yesyesyes the same as YES?

There are some scientific papers on vaginal moisturisers and their effect. YES is the one most approved by menopause specialists. (Don't have time to look again and link but it's all out there.)

Also, vaginal estrogen treatments ARE NOT HRT.
They are locally applied creams, gel or a tiny tablet (inserted.)

I'd really suggest you use those along with YES if needed. They aren't absorbed into the system.

If you only use moisturisers or lubricants, it's like a sticking plaster. The problem may get worse and then it's harder to revers.

@Bichonmum I'd challenge your GP on that - or buy it yourself OTC- as Gina.

BringMeSunshineAllDayLong · 25/05/2024 09:03

I'm on testosterone and yes and vaginal oestogen. It has all helped to get libido and dryness sorted.

BonzoGates · 25/05/2024 09:14

Ovestin cream isn't systemic HRT but it replaces hormones missing locally in the genital area so in that sense is local cream HRT. I do wish they'd sort out the info leaflet for it though - way out of date and makes it sound more risky than it is.

According to an NHS leaflet

"Vaginal oestrogens mainly act locally, but some oestrogen is absorbed into the body. Therefore, vaginal oestrogen may be more safely prescribed for those taking tamoxifen, because tamoxifen is thought to counteract any oestrogen entering the bloodstream."

Check with your specialist about local oestrogens.

Here's the wonderful Dr Liz O'Riordan on vaginal oestrogen x.com/Liz_ORiordan/status/1712051727489245454?t=pnLn3wAqsybdizbBBYZD_A&s=19

Check the comments from women who've not been able to access it after a cancer diagnosis. Liz suggests contacting the Breast surgeon to ask for a prescription.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 25/05/2024 09:28

You need topical HRT - vagifem and/or ovestin as well as YES VM

the amount of oestrogen in topical HRT is tiny & only absorbs locally but it makes a huuuuuge difference

moisturiser on its own sadly isn’t usually enough

Bohoboo · 25/05/2024 09:44

I tried local HRT and it didnt help me and I hated the smell too. I use YES and a seabuckthorn supplement - omega 7 which has been a game changer. Worth a try

Ovestin has no smell at all.

It does help but you have to use it forever, and sometimes more than 2 x a week.

@BonzoGates There are some women who have had other female cancers (uterine, endo, ovarian) who are sometimes denied vaginal estrogen and usually it's an incorrect decision.

My GP won't prescribe anything though gynaecology said it was ok.

I'm back at the hospital in a couple of weeks so will speak with them.

Did you have BC or was there another reason?

Why is your GP ignoring a consultant's advice?
That's awful!

For the love of God....

Don't get me started on the gaslighting around hysteroscopy pain.

I hope you get what you need Bichonmum and all the best for your continued recovery
