Help please - I’m about to run out of Utrogestan

I thought I had another full pack but I don’t.

I take 200mg vaginally for 12 days out of 28. Currently on day 4 of Utrogestan but only got 6 x 100mg left.

I’m going to put a repeat prescription request in to my GP now and will email to ask if it can be pushed through today.

If that isn’t possible, I’m thinking I’ll have to reduce my dose to 100mg for the next few days. Does this sound like a good plan? I only take 2 pumps of Oestrogel per day so hoping 100mg of Utro would be okay in an emergency.

TIA

Call the gp and if needs must call 111 and ask for emergency prescription. Our pharmacist also 'loan' medication if your waiting on a prescription and not a control drug

As a one-off it won't matter at all. Just carry on and yes, making do with 100mgs a day.

Some women use Utrogestan on much longer cycles (up to once every 3 months) so having less for one cycle isn't going to do any harm.

I keep reading people are taking Ultrogeston vaginally, and it's on menopause sites as an alternative. My GP is adamant you can't use it this way when I last asked. Is it really common/effective? And, um, do you just "pop" them up, as it were?

Sorry for the derail.

@FunLurker thank you. I’ve just called my GP and was told that they absolutely are not allowed to rush through any more urgent prescription requests!

@JinglingSpringbells thank you. That’s what I was hoping someone would say and makes sense to me.

@KnittedCardi yes, I read a lot before I started taking it and was very worried about the oral route and some of the awful side effects being reported. The capsules are apparently the exact same ones for oral or vaginal use, they’re just not approved for vaginal use in the UK.

Since starting them 7 months ago, I’ve had no issues with side effects, after I stop taking them, I get a withdrawal bleed around 3 days later, regular as clockwork, so they’re clearly working!

Taking them vaginally is totally normal and apparently why they are such a weird shape.

And yes you just pop them up.

My doctor gave me the option and since I'm doing vaginal oestrogen I thought I was there anyway so why not.

Weird shape? Mine are small and round??

I might just try. I am really starting to suffer on the Ultrogeston cycle, nauseous, bloating, generally Bleuch.

I too struggle with this, I feel absolutely grim for the 12 days. The bloating and pain like my intestines are swollen is horrible. I didn't know they could be taken vaginally. I'll ask my GP about that.

Yes, what other capsule is perfectly round!
