I have been taking oestrogen gel and urogesteon tablets for around 7 months. Working well apart from heavy period bleeds every month! I have always suffered this and before I started hrt my periods were becoming less regular but now there obviously regular the bleeding is bothering me. Would the coil suit me if the tablets too is what I'm wondering? I've heard and read your less likely to have any bleeding with this? Can anyone advise on thjs please? Smile

My experience of Mirena is really positive. Like you, I had really bad, heavy periods. The coil has stopped my periods altogether. It's bliss 😊

I haven’t had a period since my first Mirena in early 1994 - my last came out a couple of years ago well into my 60s and well past perimopause. I am a big fan. You do hear the odd horror story but I believe the majority find them great and they are licenced for HRT as well as contraception.

I had a second mirena after having uterine fibroids cauterized, so it was inserted under anaesthetic. Was more successful than the first, which my uterus expelled in a large blood clot unfortunately.

So far it's been great. No heavy periods or clots when I was menstruating, just a small amount of blood loss.

And one less daily thing to remember now, as I just use oestrogel in the mornings.

I've been very happy with mirena. My periods were horrific for months, irregular and ridiculously heavy. Mirena stopped them altogether very quickly.

Mine has been fine, I went on it as tne tablets were making me v depressed. The more consistent dose seems to suit me better. (The insertion wasn't great tbh)

My experience wasn't good. I had cramping and period level bleeding every day for three months. I also stopped sleeping well (love Utrogestan for the beneficial effect it has on my sleep!) and was only getting a few hours sleep at night. I also became depressed. I paid to have the cursed thing removed, and in a day or two I was back to not bleeding, sleeping the whole night and feeling upbeat and cheerful.
