Hi all,

I am 41 and think I may be peri-menopausal. I just feel so burnt out and emotional and physically drained, I get annoyed so easily and hate the way I feel just now. Not sure if is or if could bs something else. Does anyone else feel like this?

TIA

Yes, my energy levels are absolutely shocking. Busy day at work and I literally nod off on the sofa as soon as I get home. Don't seem to have any resilience with stressful situations but I have had some difficult issues to deal with recently which could explain that.
Periods have become extremely heavy with lots of flooding.

If you go to the gp, I'd advise requesting one who specialises in women's health matters, so they're not just using periods as a benchmark.

Sorry to jump on your post OP- fellow 41 year old woman here whose GP did exactly that (use periods as a benchmark) What should we be asking for as a more accurate benchmark?

I would keep a diary of your symptoms and take it to DR, as says by pp, one that specialises in menopause. My first symptom was vaginal atrophy (thinning of the walls) which made sex very painful, rage, extreme fatigue and hot sweats. Get a menopause multivitamin with magnesium in. Magnesium really helped me with my insomnia

I’m nearly 43 and reckon I’ve been Peri for a good 4-5 years. Things have settled down since I had a Mirena coil put in 2 years ago (the rages have subsided and the night sweats are few and far between but my inner ear still itches like mad!), but the last couple of weeks my joints have started to ache like mad - I’m having to take ibuprofen every evening just to get comfortable.

Think I’m going to go back to GP and ask what the next step is. To be fair she was pretty good before and suggested seeing if the coil helped, which it has so far, but I think we’re moving into the next phase now.

I am 41 also and feel the exact same way. I am absolutely exhausted all the time. Granted I work 2 nights a week. I went to GP about hot flashes/sweats I was getting, periods getting closer together and heavier. She said prob not perimenopause as periods should be getting more spaced out and probably the fluoxetine I was taking giving me hot flashes/sweats. She put me on the pill but I’m considering going to a private menopause specialist. I have no libido at all, I feel very lost within myself. I don’t feel like me anymore. I have young kids 5+6 but I’m so tired and lazy lately

Thank you so much for all your responses that has been really helpful. I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling like this.

I’d recommend downloading the Balance app as its a really handy way of recording symptoms and building up a picture of what is going on.

What. Periods DO get closer together and heavier in peri. Your GP is wrong.

My get up and go got up and went a few years ago. Still trying to get it back. Took 18 months to get on HRT, you've got to keep fighting. On reflection, I wish I had lied to the GP to be honest.
