Fear after hysteroscopy

Hi. I am 54, and started a postmenopausal bleed after an extremely stressful event. The jury is still out as to whether it was a final "period" or not. Anyway the gynae did a hysteroscopy and D&C last week. When I saw him afterwards he told me that he had seen nothing cancerous, it was all just red which was in line with hormonal changes. A scan in his rooms had shown the lining of the womb was too thick. He also said I have cervical ectropian (spelling?) which is a benign condition. He said if he had seen anything sinister he would have told me as he has had to tell other woman before. I am freaking myself out worrying about the results, even though he said he didn't see anything sinister. My mind is wondering if I can believe him! Has anyone had any similar experiences? Should I believe the doctor?

Why would he lie?

What's he's told you is excellent news and should put your mind at rest.

I have extreme health anxiety and this is part of it...I guess I just questioned what he could actually see during the hysteroscopy. now it seems stupid I suppose, but my anxiety is just really bad. Thanks for the positive message!

I had a H d&c 3 weeks ago. Apart from the agonising pain for a week afterwards it all came back fine 'inactive endometrium'.

Stop worrying. If they'd seen something they'd have told you. My consultant showed me the photos hed taken while I was under which was reassuring and fascinating in equal measure. Biopsy took 10 days. - private.

Thank you so much for that. Interesting that you mention the photos- my gynae said he had taken photos and would show me when I saw him for the results. I really don’t know if I’m quite up to that!😂

Oh no it's absolutely brilliant. I could see all of the parts that were a cause for concern, I could see blood vessels and all sorts. Super cool. He did it with my mirena coil in situ and I could see it in the photos.

Def look at them. I wish I'd taken a photo on my phone so I could look at them again!

Dont worry OP. My endo was thicker than it should have been, I think it got a bit lively when I started HRT and the utro hadn't controlled it enough, but then the mirena had done the job.
