Hi there, I am currently being inundated on social media with adverts for these supplements. The ‘reviews’ are all raving about it, but I’m wondering if they are just a load of hooey! I’m 51, been on HRT for five years, which pretty much sorted out my hot flushes, mood swings etc. Recently I’ve had to come off HRT for a few weeks due to upcoming surgery. Hot flashes came back as have my joint aches. I’m due to go back into HRT in two weeks, but am wondering whether I should give these supplements a go instead? Anyone got experience of taking these?

I just want to add, my weight has crept up over those five years, and despite exercise and healthy eating my belly won’t budge- grrrr! One of the biggest things these supplements seem to bang on about is how they will get rid of my belly- but I’m sceptical (but also desperate!)

There are already some posts about this.

Never heard of them or seen an ad anywhere.

I see ads for Health and Her.

They are invented by a (very) young man who knows fuck all about menopause, but believes he is an expert on women.

And clearly thinks that being a 'Happy Mammoth' is somehow aspirational for those of us in middle age.

soupdragon321 · 23/04/2024 07:02

I’ve seen some posts but no one has actually talked about taking them.

The idea what you can take some herbal tablet and it will make you lose weight (one of the claims) is clearly nonsense.

When anyone posts about these miracle cures I always look at the ingredients on the website. They are always just a load of vitamins and dubious herbs etc with zero science behind them.

And they are there to seduce vulnerable middle aged women who are desperate.

The reviews- how do you know they are genuine? Zero proof.

There’s a facebook group about the realities of those pills where thousands of women tell the true story. I can’t remember what it’s called, but honestly don’t waste your money. They don’t work.

If you really want to do something, buy a book on gut health by Prof Tim Spector, or follow the free advice on the Zoe website on eating well, and it will cost you next to nothing.

I can't believe that H&H is charging £55 a month for a pot of herbal tablets.

The focus on science and experts behind it all- hmmm! They don't exactly say what science or who they are!
