Slynd

Hi everyone, i'm currently using Lenzetto - 1 spray with 2 x Cerelle mini pills as i cannot take Utrogestan (it has a terrible effect on my mood). I've also tried the coil in the past and this had a similar effect on me too.

I was in touch with my GP a couple of weeks ago as i have heard that the new mini pill Slynd (the progesterone is called drospirenone) is now available as an alternative progesterone with HRT and would like to try it (BMS approved). The main reason is that you just need to take the 1 pill rather than 2 x Cerelle and less bloating. My GP checked with the menopause specialist who have given the okay for it to be prescribed.

Has anyone else had experience of this new pill? Thank you.

@Gemma5678
hello I saw your post is old but I’m in the same situation now. I can’t tolerate utrogestan and Cyclogest was a faff and caused bleeding.
im worried about starting slynd as im on testosterone to help brain fog and libido
I thought slynd can reduce libido . And I don’t generally tolerate progesterone well.
how did you get on ?

Hi Jmess, i actually tried Slynd for nearly 3 months. At first it was absolutely fine, no issues at all. Half way through the 2nd month, i started getting really bad bloating which was horrible, dreadful water retention which, whatever i did to alleviate it, didn't budge. I also started getting bad night sweats at this point. And on top of that, i started feeling very down but didn't connect anything to Slynd at first. It was only going into the 3rd month, things became considerably worse & at that point, i was sure it was Slynd causing the issues so i stopped. It took about a month to get back on track but now i know it was Slynd causing these issues. It was too strong for me & was cancelling out the estrogen i was taking hence night sweats. So a big now from me - i've also since read on other HRT forums of women having issues with Slynd & stopping it.

Oh ok thanks
since getting my prescription I’ve been reading more and more and going off the idea. It at first seemed an answer to other ones I don’t want to be using a pessary every night - as with Cyclogest and I had a a 6 day bleed on it after 11 doses. So stopped.
it’s really difficult finding something that suits me. Utrogestan puts me in an awful place. Thanks for replying so fast.
appreciate it X

i do understand what you mean - when i first heard about Slynd i was super excited about trying it. My GP wouldn't prescribe it so had to spend money seeing a private menopause Dr who had no qualms. And i felt so deflated when it started causing issues, an expensive mistake. Utrogestan was like a poison to me too, i honestly thought i was moving into depression which i've never had, scary. Good luck with everything x

Im on my third month on slynd and have terrible bloating and extremely low mood also. It has stopped my horrific periods though but I don't think I'll refill the next script

Jmess · 26/02/2025 14:30

@tfu the last thing I need is something that lowers my mood!
that’s what I’m worried about though
with slynd. But no idea what else to do
I did wonder about Cyclogest alternate nights instead of daily x

@Jmess what i use now, although not conventional & probably get slated on this forum for it but it is 1 mini pill and estriol/estradiol cream that i buy (the dose i use works out just under 1 pump of Estrogel & it resolved my issues. Although it seems like a small dose, it works out really well for me & i've been using this scenario for quite a few months now. I appreciate we're all different but after trialling Utrogestan & then Slynd amongst others, i never thought i'd find a way for something to work - specialist menopause GP & local GP ran out of ideas.
