Hi.

I am currently looking at Newson Health and also The Women’s Health Centre.

I’ve been on HRT for just over a year, it’s not right at all - I am so unbalanced hormonally. I have to wait 3+ months for a dr app and then it is often downgraded to a phone appointment, different doctor every time etc.

Really after some advice / recommendations for a private provider. I’m based in the West Midlands.

a hopeful thanks.

The BMS- British Menopause Society has a list of SPECIALISTS on their website.

Your other option is to cross-reference their lists with your local private hospitals - look under gynaecologists- and see if any are experts in menopause. Or private GPs working through local private hospitals.

@JinglingSpringbells thank you for the tips. I’ll look on the menopause society

I had a "messy" time trying to get help through GP/private clinic - FINALLY saw a Louise Newson related Dr in Alderley Edge Cheshire - she was incredible/thorough/patient & empathetic. The team have also followed-up with an action plan (Dr Hollie Jackson)
Not sure if that's too far for you - altho, we went once, I think further appts will be zoom/phone

I’m West Mids and went to Louise Newson in Stratford. Initial assessment via zoom and then had a face to face appointment and bloods etc at the clinic. They are excellent, so knowledgeable and most importantly you get the time to talk through issues and they listen.

Thanks @CountryTimes and @Mother87 . I saw that there was a Louise Newsom clinic in Chester which would
probably be my closest. Reassuring to hear
that you have both had good experiences.

Yes - amazing, sadly compared to my NHS experiences

Festivalmitch · 26/04/2024 10:43

Thankyou. I’m going to book in with them asap

I also use a Newson clinic near where I live (not near you unfortunately). Very good experience- I was prescribed oestrogen gel (offered patches or gel and chose gel) and testosterone. I didn't need progesterone as have a Mirena. I was maybe lucky because it suited me pretty much straight away (after 2 months of huge boobs but apparently that's normal and they've now deflated). I did feel that she was really listening to what I was telling her and she also talked through diet and exercise stuff so it wasn't just "here's some HRT" but also she was realistic that with the best will in the world most women don't have the bandwidth to completely change their diets and spend half the week in the gym. It is kind of expensive but once you're stable you go down to annual reviews so it's just that and the cost of the meds. They will write you a referral to see if your GP will prescribe on the NHS if you want.
