Alternative to HRT

I have recently recovered from a mastectomy due to breast cancer. I have been told I cannot take Hrt.

Does anyone know of any alternative treatments?

I am currently taking a low dose antidepressant. Just helps with anxiety and sleep.

My GP is not really sympathetic.

Hi
What symptoms are you wishing to treat?

I use Ovestin and vagifem
for vaginal dryness. Also sea buckthorn capsules and vitamin E.

Sage tincture for sweats and low dose amitriptyline for sleep. There are a million and one herbal remedies, but with all the filters and bulking agents, who knows what quality of product you are getting.

In also going to have acupuncture for hot flushes.

You can still have vaginal oestrogen as the dose is so low.

Acupuncture is meant to be good for hot flushes.

Hi I am trying to manage the hot sweats, brain fog and weight gain.

My GP is unwilling to prescribe vagifem as it contains estrogen,

I have tried various supplements including sage and soya. Both are not really effective. Slimming world for the weight gain with mixed results. Caffeine shampoo for the hair loss.

I have had blood test and there are no underlying issues.

Ask your GP to refer you to a menopause specialist or if you can afford it, refer yourself.

There are many different treatments including a very new drug for hot flushes that isn't hormonal. VEOZAH.

I'd also ask for another opinion on vaginal estrogen as some women who've had BC are allowed to use it.

You shouldn't need to struggle alone. There are many excellent doctors who know more than your GP who should be able to help you.

Yes @JinglingSpringbells I have an appointment to discuss Veozah, with a private MS next week. Fingers crossed. Only available privately at the moment ( i think ?)
