Shoulder tendinitis. Is this my life now?

Does anyone else suffer from this? HRT has pretty much sorted everything else out, but the frozen shoulder/ tendinitis is relentless. Both shoulders. What (if anything) helps? I’ve had 2 cortisone injections, which only gave relief for 6 weeks or so. I even tried PRP, which did nothing at all.

I feel you. Is testosterone part of your HRT?

Freebritney · 03/04/2024 20:57

I have had the same issue, I am trying testosterone now ( only on day 2 so can't say if it works).

i did find that full spectrum CBD oil really helped with the pain.

Have you seen a physio? If necessary privately.

I have been plagued with tennis and golfers elbow for the last 4(!) years.

It's now pretty well controlled and although HRT has helped, I had to do a whole load of work on my posture, desk position, driving position, stretching and strength building. I was v lucky as the physio at work saw me every week at the start and did a lot of muscle releases.

Both shoulders (I was both elbows) also implies a problem in your neck, v common if your work is desk/computer based. I was not happy to be told I have arthritis in my neck but I do and so it is going to be continuous maintenance.

DH also developed rotator cuff and he obvs can't blame it on menopause - he also found his desk work was contributing.

I was advised to avoid the cortisone injections as they are only a temporary solution.

I've had wrist tendonitis and shoulder issues (a trapped nerve not tendonitis though) OP. What worked both times was strengthening exercises using a weight and also a resistance band and doing them every day. A physio can help prescribe the exercises. My shoulder took over a year of exercising daily to put right. Hope you get some relief.

I’ve taken up weight lifting and swimming 3x per week and it was helping my shoulder. Then one night I slept funny and f me it’s undone all my hard work.

I’m hoping that perseverance will pay off.

Linearforeignbody · 03/04/2024 21:14

I do dumbell exercises using 2kg weights , 2 x daily for about 3 mins each time. It’s a set of about 6 different movements and keeps everything supple.
I also visit someone for myofascial release every couple of months

DrMadelineMaxwell · 03/04/2024 21:16

Mine isn't frozen shoulder, but I do have impingement in both shoulders. Physio helped massively, but slipping back into bad habits with my posture and I'm back to square one.

I can't sleep on my right hand side (causes instant reflux ever since being pregnant 20 years ago!) means I always end up sleeping on the same shoulder, so whereas one has improved, the other hasn't.

khaa2091 · 03/04/2024 21:16

Have you been checked for diabetes?

Bobbybobbins · 03/04/2024 21:18

Things that have helped me the most are strengthening exercise - swimming and Pilates and not wearing heels apart from v special occasions.

W0tnow · 04/04/2024 05:08

@canyouletthedogoutplease no testosterone.
@AnnaMagnani yes to physio, exercises not really helped, and some I can’t even do due to pain.. Swimming impossible due to pinching.
@khaa2091 no, but I have very low bmi and always have.

Perhaps I’ll find another physio. 🤔 And try myofascial relase

I was you. I saw a really good physio who gave me exercises to strengthen the shoulder girdle. I used a tension band tetween my hand moving the bad side out in the pattern of a clock. Made a big difference
