Struggling to get doctor to listen

Went to see doctor a couple of months ago. I have rage, real rage, massive brain fog (to the point where I’m forgetting conversations I’ve had), low mood, periods lasting 10 days - 2 weeks, hugely heavy, anxiety etc etc. I’m 45. I’ve been told countless times I’m “a bit young” for the menopause. Doctor forced me onto Zoely (as I “need” contraception apparently even though we are not intimate at present and unlikely to be for a while). It’s made me gain a lot of weight.

Week or so later I went to see another doctor about something different and mentioned tingling/numbness in my hands and feet. They tested my blood said o had low levels of folate so put me on 5mg of folic acid for 3 months.

Been seeing another doctor re something else (can never get in to see sane one though have now seen this one 3 times) as my tingling has now become pain and my tongue and lips are tingling. She’s referred me for MRI. I am stopping Zoely but she won’t trial me on HRT until I’ve had FSH levels checked. Fly in ointment is that because of Zoely, I can’t have FSH checked for 6 weeks and then have to wait another 4 weeks for a second test.

im exhausted and in agony, severe pain (joints are now acting up too). I cannot deal with this for another 10 weeks (I have to work!).

Does this sound like peri? What can I do? Can I insist on HRT?

Find yet another dr?

Those you have seen sound clueless.

Menopause (and this is post-menopause, not peri) is from 45-55 with the average being 51. So you are absolutely in the right age range for peri (which can last 5 years or more.)

NICE guidance is to do a blood test to rule out other conditions in women under 45. So your dr is wrong again.

To be honest, you could go back and ask for HRT (they have to give you a good, medical reason to refuse it.)

List your symptoms, say you think they are peri meno and ask for a 3 month HRT trial.

Failing that, if you can afford £250 you can probably get an appt with a private consultant within 2 weeks and sort it all.
