Frequent burning feeling in my urethra.

Am on 100 patches and norithisterone with a sequi regime. In the last month I got what I thought was a UTI. Terrible constant burning and heavy sensation in bladder and urethra. Was given antibiotics but I am not sure that was the cause. It comes and goes though. Some days all is fine and other days it is bad. I feel like I want to go to the toilet- as you would with a uti but there is no stinging as such when I do. It’s flared up again today.
is this yet another menopause symptom and can anything help?
thanks

Vaginal oestrogen

Hoglet70 · 21/03/2024 07:29

I was like this. Vaginal Oestrogen sorted it really quickly.

BarrelOfOtters · 21/03/2024 07:32

Yep you can order vaginal oestrogen online or get it on prescription. I’m also going to trypkens as suggested by GP.

BigButtons · 21/03/2024 09:01

Thank you! I have asked the gp for some. It’s really annoying.
does this mean the HRT isn’t as effective if this is happening?

Ovestin cream is a life saver. X

If it doesn't go away with the HRT have a look at Sally K Norton on YouTube. I was loaded with oxalates and I had what you had.

Six months of no tea, no oranges and a low oxalate diet, my health is revolutionised.

BarrelOfOtters · 21/03/2024 10:03

@BigButtons I don't think it means it's less effective, but topical HRT directed at a particular area just helps that area. So both is fine.

So did I. I ate a tonne of oranges and drank orange juice. My diet was high oxalate and then I learned. Went through eight weeks of white knuckle oxalate dumping and then it slowed and I am still losing it but OMG! The difference in overall health. I still drink coffee. Haven't had tea for nine months now and I really choose my fruit and vegetables wisely now.
Sally K Norton. Amazing woman. My hero.

Limiting some drinks and foods may help symptoms but doesn't deal with the underlying cause.

That is a thin bladder lining which is easily irritated by tannins/ caffeine/ acidic fruit(s) and juices.

Using vaginal estrogen repairs the bladder lining- makes it thicker and less likely to be irritated.

I have been using vagifem for this for a while but hasn't helped - is Ovestin better ?

Yes as you can use it externally as well as internally which really helps.
