It would have happened on a Friday night of course!
I am 62 and my DM died of ovarian cancer aged 60, her first symptom was a discharge (which she ignored and then tried to treat herself as thrush).
Can someone give me any positive stories of having this and it turning out okay?
I'm not on HRT or any other medication.
I know 90 per cent of the time it's vaginal atrophy, polyps/benign but my family history is worrying me.
I will be onto the GP first thing on Monday.
I'm in Wales if that makes any difference.

I think going to your doctor is the best thing. Sending biggest hugs x

Ironically, one of the reasons I've shunned HRT is because my DM was on it and then had ovarian cancer. HRT can be a risk factor. She was also obese, another risk factor.
I am (just ) within healthy BMI but still very worried.

I will be waiting for the GP lines to open on Monday.

I hope you will be okay.

As a by the way , have you asked your GP if they will offer routine scans for ovarian cancer as your mum had it?

Some women are offered these- an annual ultrasound scan.

The link with HRT and OC is very, very small.

Last time I asked I wasn't considered high risk enough for the scans, with only 1 relative who had OC, but that was years ago. DM was diagnosed aged 57 and sadly died in 2003.

Has anyone else here had post menopause bleeding and found out it was benign? That's the reassurance I could do with right now!

The NHS website says it's overwhelming a non-nasty cause, including vaginal atrophy and even hard exercise (I went to a strong fitness class yesterday). I'm holding out hope that's the sort of explanation.

Thanks for the good wishes in the meantime.
