Oestrogen causing palpitations

It's driving me mad!
I think i have had it with hrt.
It's definitely the oestrogen as it stops when i took a break and came back immediately when i started.

Problem is my aches and pains start up again if I don't take it.

Hi👋 I'm still in the process of knowing whether or not I'm in the first stages of perimenopause but I've been having heart palpitations on/off for the last year and half. myself and the doctor just put it down to stress as nothing showed on tests that were done that it was anything else. Now I've seen your post I'm wondering if mine are connected. When do you usually get yours? Mine is always at night when I go to bed and lay down and I have to sit up as sometimes hard to catch my breath.

I went through a few years of this while menopausal, hospital a few times, monitors, consultant, a camera look see. Consultant put me on beta blockers. You have my sympathy

I had awful palpitations with the patches. Moved onto gel and they stopped!

That's really interesting thank you.
I'm on lenzetto. Just down to one spray. Had the patches previously and still had palps. Might be worth a try!

My Dr was really dismissive of them when I mentioned it.

Hi - can I ask if the beta blockers did anything? I've been plagued with palpitations and ectopic beats for years now. I'm always terrified that my oestrogen ups and downs (and now HRT) are masking a 'real' heart condition, but have now had several ECGs in the GP surgery, two 24 hr monitors and the data was looked at by the cardio dept and they think it's ok. At least they did the first time. The second lot of data got lost between the private contractor who supplies the monitors.... Easter Hmm

Anyway, on the advice of a menopause consultant over the phone, I've scaled down my Sandrena gel to 1.5mg a day (from 2mg) because she said palps can sometimes be caused by too MUCH oestrogen as well as too little. No difference. :-/

I'm fed up with it - and still worried I do have an actual condition.

Go back about the palpitations tell GP they haven't gone away.

Can I ask are the palpitations worse after eating? @GlomOfNit

No, not that I've noticed. I do mention them and they just say - well, you've had these monitors etc, nothing really unusual to see. (Mind you, the last lot of data got lost and the GP surgery were unable to chase it up because it was lost between the cardio dept of the hospital and the third party who supply the machines! I was unofficially informed by the third party guy I spoke to on the phone that he wasn't meant to say anything but it all looked 'fine'! I mean he could have been the caretaker. When I rang the hospital department I was unable to speak to anyone, EVER.)

Well if they've decided they're harmless. Go back and ask for beta blockers. My private consultant prescribed these. It's made a huge difference to my life @GlomOfNit
