Was this a chemical pregnancy or peri related?

I'm likely perimenopausal, cycle a bit irregular and had shortened, periods getting a bit heavier some cycles, then stop/start etc. Usually lasts about 7 days.

Last time I saw a gynae (no period for 3 months and history of fibroids and cysts) he said I was likely starting peri. Early menopause runs in the family (im mid 40's)

I was 11 days late last period which was unusual, im normally 3-5 days either side. I did a pg test on around the 3rd day and it was negative. Was the digital one.

Then I finally came on after a 34 day cycle. It was strange. Bright red blood throughout, very full on from day 1 which is unusual, lots of large clots to the point i needed to flush the toilet twice 😳 very heavy for about 5 days which is also unusual then it started to tail off but the spotting/brownish red discharge carried on for 8 days!! So in total I was bleeding in some way for 15 days.

Friend said it could have been a chemical pregnancy which would fit time wise (I had a feeling something happened with the condom, won't detail why! And stupidly I didn't think to get the map just in case). But would a chemical show up as negative on a test? Maybe I tested too early?

The clots did look odd, not like normal ones I get from time to time. They were pretty big and just looked very different.

The lingering brown/blood streaked discharge spooked me a bit. But it's gone completely now and we had sex recently and no sign of blood again, or i would have really panicked about cervical C etc (i do need to book a smear).

Any ideas? Could it have been a chemical? Or has anyone perimenopausal also had this sort of discharge lasting days during a period?
