Endometrial cancer concern/HRT

Has anybody had any experience with spotting/bleeding whilst taking continuous HRT? I am 54 and was referred for a hysteroscopy a year ago as I was found to have a thickened womb lining, during a pelvic scan for something else. When I got to the appointment. the doctor said that she didn't need to have it done as she hasn't realised I was on HRT and this was likely the cause of the thickened lining.

Almost a year on and I have been having intermittent spotting, light bleeding and bloating on and off, despite being on Utrogestan 100 (2 balls each night continuously and Evorel 75 patches (twice per week.) I finally got to see a GP today (impossible to get appointments at my surgery), who looked at my cervix and said looked fine, but had referred me for another hysteroscopy on the 2 week referral path.

To complicate matters, my GP mixed up the dosage of my Evorel patches and prescribed me Evorel 50, instead of 75. I've been applying a combination of 75 and 50 over the last five months whilst they've attempted to sort this out!

I'm obviously worried sick about what this could be. Anyone else had anything similar happen to them? Many thanks in advance.

Would you consider a mirena coil? My gynae said that the best cure for bleeding was progesterone in the womb, ie a mirena.

@Stingray43 It could be because your oestrogen is up and down due to different doses of patch. They say any change in regime can cause spotting or bleeding. On another note are you post menopausal as if not finished natural periods they can breakthrough and cause irregular spotting or bleeding? X

If the endometrium is significantly thickened they usually recommend a mirena coil. I had three friends with hyperplasia. One said no thanks don't fancy coil and stopped HRT. The second went for coil. The third upped her progesterone dosage on advice from specialist menopause clinic. Good luck

Should have added the one who stopped HRT altogether paid for a private ultrasound a year after stopping HRT - endometrium back to normal

I had the same and now take one utrogestan orally, and insert one as a pessary. This was on the advice of a specialist menopause clinic. It seems to have stopped the intermittent bleeding.
