Finally succumbed, going to ask GP about HRT insomnia, night sweats, dryness, itching

I am 54, haven’t had a period for 15 months. Have some symptons and spending a fortune on supplements to fix, some of which work and some dont. But just about to start a new job so really want to get myself in the best place to do so. I have mentioned earlier very casually to GP about HRT and all they suggested is Mirena Coil, which I declined, not keen on that but not really sure why.

My symptoms are vaginal dryness and itching and my mouth is dry, hot sweats at night and trouble sleeping. The insomnia is prob the most life changing one. I can get to sleep ok, just wake up loads during the night. Also more of a general thing, I have generally been quite a chilled person but I don’t feel it at the moment, just can’t seem to handle stress like i used to.
So have anybody had similar symptoms to mine and did HRT fix it, did bleeding start again, I would really rather that it didn’t.
Thanks for any advice, just want to go to the dr with all the information I can.

I can’t see why they won’t give it, you’re classic menopause. Print out the NIcE guidelines and push them over the desk.

I gave up alcohol because it affected my sleep and made me sweat.
I also started magnesium for sleep

Mirena coil and oestrogen patches + testosterone gave me my sanity back.

The mirena is a genius product if you are progesterone intolerant too.
