When to try testosterone

Hi everyone, I’ve been on oestrogel (2 pumps) and cycling utrogestan since November. The heart palapations, insomnia, achy joints and headaches are much better, and I’m no longer crying every day.

I still have low energy, a memory like a sieve, going in and out of anxiety and depression, and a general disinterest in things I used to love.

I’be heard a lot from Louise Newson about testosterone for energy, mental clarity and lust for life. I did a Superdrug test and it came back 1.1, and Louise N said she would supplement if under 1.5.

My question is, how long to persist with different doses of oestrogel before bringing the testosterone into the mix (GP says can’t prescribe so I’ll be doing it through SuperDrug). Should I try some T immediately and see, or do some months on 3 or 4 pumps of oestrogel before I introduce something new. If the T could help I don't really want to delay more than I need to. Thanks.

I'm not sure I can advise, only share my experience as I've just been to a private menopause clinic for similar reason. My testosterone level is 0.6 but the physician I saw wasn't at all bothered about that - instead she requested a blood test for estrogen, and it turns out that even though I was on a high dose (patch) I wasn't absorbing it. So I'm trying tablets (only started this week so too soon to say) and then we'll take it from there. She said that getting the estrogen level right was the first thing to address as that usually relives most of the symptoms. Only when that's what it should be would she start to think about testosterone.

There's a lot of conflicting information out there!
