Thin perineal skin

Sensitive issue in more ways than I've, but had anyone noticed thinner, itchy skin in the vulval/perineal/anal area? I've had sensitive skin in the vulval area over the years and am careful to use unperfumed stuff etc but had anyone got any creams they've found that settle things down?

What do you mean by weak?

If you mean it holds little and you need to wee a lot, then yes it may help.
It builds up the lining of the bladder, restoring the layer that depends on estrogen for its plumpness.

It does this because the estrogen is absorbed by the bladder through the vaginal wall.

It can also help 'leaks' because it helps to support the tissues around the bladder opening. However, you also need to do your 30 pelvic squeezes a day to help any leaks.

Thanks for reply.

Doorstep incontinence mostly. And yes, far more frequency.

I've always done my kegels, but am trying to build up my glutes because I hear this helps too. Core not too bad, apart from flat buttocks (hereditary 🙄)

I've urge incontinence think oops I need a wee and leak taking ten steps to the loo. I've the itching too. Had steroids which helped the itching but not the incontinence. I do the kegals on the loo.

I'm off to ask for Ovistin. Fed up changing pads.

Now on Ovestin, but the pain is just as bad. I cry myself to sleep and have to try hard not to cry at work when I go to the loo! How long does it take for it to clear up - this has been going on for several weeks now and I can't stand much more. I dont sleep well anyway as I have a weak bladder along with having developed restless legs too.

I no longer look forward to going to bed to sleep and as for sex...!

I’m not sure where the pain is, but if external on the vulva have you tried using an emollient ointment like Epaderm or Hydromol? This can work well in protecting against irritation and friction, and can be applied as often as needed.

Topical oestrogen takes time to work in thickening and strengthening the tissue including in the urethral tract to help with bladder issues. It’s recommended to use it for 3 months and then have a review with your doctor. Some women like to mix a little moisturiser like Yes OB with Ovestin as sometimes it can sting a little on irritated tissue.

When you go to the loo, try using a peri bottle or pour warm water over the vulva, as this can lessen any stinging.

Handbaghag how are you getting on? I feel like I've hijacked your thread - I didn't mean to. I hope you have found some relief and/or a solution.

I've been meaning to come back to this thread to recommend "vulva balm". Available on Amazon (sorry my link didn't work).

I've been using it once or twice a day for the last few weeks and it has been brilliant. No itching and haven't needed the steroid cream at all.

Mightn't work for everyone but for £25 it might be worth a try. Plus the tin will last for ages.

Is this the stuff in the silver tin or the pink pot?

@Emm220884
I've attached a photo of the tin.
