I’m so anxious

Hello, I’m 52. I wonder if anyone has any advice? I’m four weeks in to my second attempt at HRT. First time I was on utrogestan and patches. I had to stop after three months as I felt so ill, so nauseous I could barely eat. This time I’m on gel, two pumps, and utrogestan. I feel so anxious. I’m crying constantly. I feel so depressed. I’m actually struggling to see any point in carrying on to be honest. I’ve never felt so low.

I'm not sure how to link to the oestrogel thread but it's called

Oestrogel: new packaging (yet again)? - Thread 2

How are you getting on @Reachingforchocolate ? Hope you are feeling OK.

Thanks for asking, it’s been a rough few days. Spent most of yesterday absolutely sobbing. My poor DH and DD have been very patient with me. I stopped the HRT yesterday and I’m find a bit calmer today. Still tearful but not quite as emotional . I don’t know where I’ll go from here. I’ll have to go back to the GP I suppose.

Sorry to hear that you are still struggling with it. When it all went wrong for me, I absolutely hated feeling as though I was out of control. At least by stopping the HRT I felt as though I had taken some power back. Hopefully you'll feel a bit more settled in the next few days and can have a chat with the doctor about what to do next.

Why are you taking HRT if it makes you feel so bad?

Reachingforchocolate · 01/02/2024 08:05

I took it because I was very moody without it. I was also having night sweats. I thought about it and it seemed the menospause wasn’t just happening to me but also to my dh and dcs so I was trying to make things better for all of us. My GP was very positive about HRT also, saying it was marvellous.

Hi. I don’t take systemic HRT only local estrogen cream for atrophy. I think HRT is a bit of trial and error so hopefully your GP can do a bit of tweaking with the doses. I have to add, lots of GPs aren’t very clued up about menopause issues. My problem wasn’t diagnosed for years so I did my own research. What the dr might describe as marvellous for one woman won’t necessarily suit the next. It’s not a one size fits all. x
