The Itching - my god the itching…

So this is a new thing. Itching - mainly all over my torso, like I want to itch my skin off. Sometimes my arms and legs. But mainly my torso. Has anyone else had this, and if so what did you do?
I’m on HRT (Utrogestan & gel).
I’m moisturising.
Help me!!

And for genital discomfort, Vagifem or vagirux is the thing. Great stuff but needs to used long term.

Wow - sorry, I was away yesterday and have only just come back to the thread.
I’m sorry to see it’s a thing for so many others too.
Re the GP / possible liver issues, I had to have blood tests done for another meno issues and nothing untoward showed up re my liver.
For me the itching started out of the blue. As someone said, HRT cured my insomnia, flushes and rage symptoms. I’ve been on it now 9 months or so. But this awful, literally-want-to-tear-my-own-skin-off itching started in the last few weeks.
I bought E45 last week, but will look at some of the other recommendations on this thread. So thank you. If I find anything works, I’ll report back.
I have also had itchy vag/vulva issues too (oh the meno joys!) I am seeing my GP for that separately for that re Ovestin. In the meantime Vagisil has been useful.

Are you allergic to you moisturiser?

I don’t think so. But it’s a good point. As I said, I’ve recently bought E45. And yet the itching continues.

Good luck OP. When it started for me I thought I have to shell out on cerave etc. but it didn't help much and then I tried the superdrug own brand body cream and am pretty happy now.

I get the occasional itch on random body parts (leg, top of the bum crack) and I also use weleda baby cream (calendula) for those urgent random itches. Its greasy so not suitable for large areas.

Fexofenadine anti histamine tablets are the only ones that work for me. The loratidine etc doesn't touch it.

It's not always that effective for me either so I've made a note of that recommendation. Thanks for posting it!

Summerdew · 28/01/2024 10:32

As PP said take magnesium, it’s wonderful stuff. You could also try talking to your GP about upping your HRT dose to see if that helps. Try “Yes VM” in addition to vagirux (or similar) for vulva itching.

No worries! Weirdly since menopause I've had terrible hayfever, sorts that too.

justasking111 · 28/01/2024 11:52

Fexofenadine works on my hayfever. I saw it in Asda yesterday so it's worth a try.

My husband has to take it now. I think it might be a general age thing re allergies.

43ontherocksporfavor · 28/01/2024 19:48

Fexofenodine is fab and only recently available without prescription. My DM used to get it from Gp for hayfever and said it was the only one that knocked it out.

WilloTheWispy · 31/01/2024 15:33

Bought some Fexofenadine today, so will start taking that

I seem to have established now that I am allergic to

a) HRT patches
b) HRT gel
C) the menopause
D) being a woman

All hope is lost really.

I'm full of hives and an itch and am on telfast x2 a day with some effect. I'm posting as some of the tips on here are great. Hope things have looked up for people with itch

Eurax cream was a great relief for night time itching on my chest and neck.
