Womenwise tests

Has anyone done this?
I has a consultation and it seems like a good idea. HRT has not been a magic cure for me.

It's just very expensive so wondering if anyone has any experience of using them?

Here's the insta link : https://www.instagram.com/womenwise_health?igsh=MXNtcDJhODdocWRneA==

I like the idea of looking more holistically at what's going on in my body, alongside what the Dr can prescribe.

Anyone?

MedSchoolRat · 17/01/2024 19:21

I'll wager it's mostly made up conclusions.

JinglingSpringbells · 17/01/2024 19:28

I can't see much from the link not everyone is on Insta.
Is there a website?

You could get as much from a good gynae who is good with menopause.

I recently had a full range of blood tests, including FBC, cholesterol and thyroid.
An MOT if you like.

womenwise.health

I'd really like to hear from someone who has tried it.

It's nutritional therapy to compliment HRT if you take it. So not the same as a gynae.

I think it's a complete waste of money and dodgy science.

Sorry!

You'd be better off spending £400 on great food or if you want an analysis of your gut health, look at the Zoe program, or even just read the info on their website on gut health (and change your way of eating, if you need to.)

JinglingSpringbells · 19/01/2024 08:49

Your GP could run most of the tests anyway if you think you could be diabetic, have thyroid issues, etc etc.

iamyourequal · 19/01/2024 21:26

I second JinglingSpringbells · Today 08:49

‘’Your GP could run most of the tests anyway if you think you could be diabetic, have thyroid issues, etc’’

I personally think it looks like a complete scam for what they are charging.

If their ‘tests’ tell you anything medically treatable needs looking at, they aren’t going to help you with that - you will need a doctor.

For the rest they are probably going to tell you to do some yoga, eat tofu & more veg, give up sugar, wheat, alcohol, meat & dairy. Buy a whole tonne of expensive woo supplements & vitamins you don’t need, get a better work life balance & love yourself more!
I know you want to hear from people who’ve tried it and hopefully they will be along soon, but I’m only posting this to try and help as it concerns me you are thinking of paying for this.

iamyourequal · 19/01/2024 21:34

Sorry I should add improving diet/cutting alcohol, exercise etc are obviously great and helpful. My (badly made) point is that you are bound to know that much already (without paying a small fortune to be told it).

PrawnDumplings · 19/01/2024 22:39

The zoe program is just blood sugar. You can test that yourself. It's also expensive and they own your data. I actually find it quite sinister.

WW tests things your dr wont. And it's aimed at Peri/ menopausal women.

If you haven't tried it and don't know anything about it then your criticism isn't really helpful.

Yes of course.

There are also genetic reasons why some people react differently to hormones. I'm interested in investigating these.

Zoe- this is all on their website.

It's a 2 week Libre BG monitor. It's a poo sample which identifies your gut health (the results are something around 4 A4 pages of good/ bad bacteria, I understand), and you also do a lipid blood test which shows how efficient your body is at metabolising fat (linked to heart disease etc.)

Who would own your data with the one you're considering?

What do you think it will tell you to help you at the moment?

JinglingSpringbells · 19/01/2024 22:53

If they are testing your DNA- who owns that?

That's a pretty big thing to give away to a company.

PrawnDumplings · 19/01/2024 22:57

Zoe literally say you are paying to be part of their experiment.

They say not to eat processed food but are selling processed drinks at m&s.

I'm not here to try to convince you of WW. You can do a free consultation if you have questions.

OP posts:
JinglingSpringbells · 20/01/2024 07:57

The product is kefir.

It's not processed, or ultra processed.

It's fermented milk with added fruit and bacteria.

Like plain yoghurt, but the milk is fermented with cultures of bacteria.

(I've made my own at home!)

PrawnDumplings · 20/01/2024 09:45

Much better to make your own!

OP posts:
lljkk · 20/01/2024 10:44

kefir is processed, I don't think PP understands what processed means. Many processed foods are very healthy to eat, btw

Whether you think a kefir product is UPF is endlessly debatable because there is no consensus on what is or isn't UPF. No defining threshold.

Are you advertising it OP? Because you sound like an advert.

JinglingSpringbells · 21/01/2024 15:48

@PrawnDumplings If you're still considering it, maybe look at the sample test results. Unless I'm misreading them, it looks as if many of the 'results' for that person are based purely on her answers to a questionnaire.
The ones where blood etc is submitted are ones you could get from a GP if you want along saying you thought there there may be some concerns.

What concerns me , reading the site, is there is a brief explanation of some tests (like the DNA/genes) and how they may be connected with menopause symptoms, but unless someone is a science graduate , or very well read, it's impossible to know if there is any connection at all. Our genes affect everything but how that plays out into treating menopause (by the supplements they sell or whatever else) isn't explained on their site in enough detail to make it convincing.

PrawnDumplings · 21/01/2024 15:58

It advertising it at all. Just looking for anyone who's tried it. There doesn't seem to be anyone here though. Never mind.

@PrawnDumplings did you come across anyone that has used Womenswise service in the end? I am interested but want to hear from someone who has worked with them. I tried Zoe and it was a waste of time, they mostly gather your data and the fact that they score your meals made me obsessed about food.
