Coil replacement and perimenopause

I'm due to have my copper coil removed under colposcopy next month as it's causing me recurrent anaemia due to heavy bleeding, but I'm really torn as to what to do for contraception.

I'm 41 and still having regular periods, but I am having some peri symptoms. Would I be a complete loon to be thinking about having a Mirena fitted for both contraception and HRT given that my strings for this one have coiled so far inside my cervix that I'm having to have an outpatient appointment to remove it?

If I don't have the Mirena, is there an alternative for a double whammy of contraception and HRT? I didn't get on well with the implant, so no chance of going for that again.

I had issues with a copper coil previously and have had no such issues with the mirena. No periods at all after the first couple of months which has been wonderful (they were very heavy and irregular due to peri)

Mirena plus oestrogen (gel) would probably be the best option.

Mirena has been great for me and I never got on with any other hormonal contraceptives
