How much Ultrogestan?

Hello,
I'm peri and finding that I feel absolutely great when taking just oestrogen but not so great when taking Ultrogestan (low moods, irritability, bleeding). I've tried taking 200mg 14 days on and 14 days off, and also 100mg every day for the whole month. Now, I'm about to try 100mg every other day. I'm wondering what others have tried. And is there a suggested minimum?

What did your GP tell you to do?

The dose is on the leaflet inside the box.

12 days x 200mgs for women in peri

Daily x 100mgs for women post menopause.

There can be variations on this from a specialist, but generally, this is the regimen.

My doctor has told me to do what's in my op: 200mg 14 days on/off, 100mg every day, and 100mg every other day. I realise these are what's usual. My medication doesn't come with any packaging or a leaflet - just blister packs. I'm wondering if it is possible to reduce the dosage even further whilst preserving the anti-cancer benefits and what other women's experiences have been.

100mg every other day.

@flyingant This is not an prescribed or licensed option. (Not sure where your GP is getting that from. (It is JUST possible they have read about alternate day dosing when used vaginally but this is now out of date and not recommended.)

The blister pack, if it has 30 capsules in, should come with a leaflet as that has the prescribing info and the list of side effects.

This is quite helpful but bear in mind that 14 days is an option (for women who may bleed a lot on the withdrawal bleed) and it's also stated on the leaflet that 12 days is a licensed dose.

There is nothing on the link about 100mgs on alternate days.

The pharmacy is at fault if they are taking out the patient info leaflet and you should ask them why. I've never ever had a box without a leaflet.

It is supposed to be supplied because there are some very rare , but serious side effects where medical help is advised.

The leaflet says 12 days x200mgs out of 28, but this many specialists say 12 days per month, so 12 days from 1st Jan, then 1st Fb, etc.

If you go back to your GP I'd ask why they are saying every other day.
Is this written on the box of capsules as an option?

Thank you for this information @JinglingSpringbells.

I'm not in the UK, and I have found getting adequate medical advice to do with peri/menopause is challenging. Doctors' training is very outdated - I've had four different menopause specialists tell me that mid-forties is definitely too young to be perimenopausal. I had to fight to get my blood tested before I was believed to have low oestrogen levels. I'm still being told that I must have another (non-menopause-related) hormone imbalance because menopause doesn't start until after 50. Hence, I don't believe what I'm being told by the doctors I have access to and am wondering what is normal elsewhere.
