Wild ride - intense return of low mood, reactiveness, crying. Also - has anyone tried 'mood' tablets

The back story... So I have been on HRT since April/May last year. Had a mirena coil fitted (after five years on minipill) and started oestrogel. It took a few weeks for my body to adjust to the change in progesterone method and I was all over the place. Once it all settled in, it was an amazing change. Energy back, joint inflammation gone, skin improved etc.

Then a couple of months ago some aches and pains came back and skin got worse again (hormonal rosacea). So, was told to give it a go to up the oestrogen. So I went from two pumps to three. Initally I did not notice any difference other than skin improvement but then out of the blue I had the huge crying jags again. So, if I got upset and started to cry I just could not stop. Like on and on and on it would go. Absolutely awful. Plus the reactiveness and lashing out that even take me by surprise and I wonder if it is someone else doing it. Could this be done to increasing the oestrogen?????

So, have dropped down to as close to 2.5 pumps as I can get. I am still feeling really low though and was told about some tablets that contain L-Tryptophan & 5-HTP and other natural ingredients. (Mood from Brainsmart). I am reluctant to start taking traditional antidepressants but feel I need something, anything to help my mood. Has anyone tried these?

I was prescribed SSRIs for menopausal symptoms years ago and they definitely helped, but no experience of the Brainsmart tablets.
I’ve only recently come off them as I’m on max dose of HRT and I think the HRT helps me more than SSRIs, but I have noticed mood/reaction changes without the SSRIs.
