Continuous HRT and bleeding

Very confused. I am 56 so think I should be post menopausal but I have never not had bleeding. I moved from sequential HRT to continuous over a year ago to stop bleeding but this hasn’t worked. Can’t seem to get a straight answer from the GP but should I still be having bleeds
And yes I am asking on here because I can’t get answers from anyone else

I thought the bleeding on continuous had settled down too but I’ve been bleeding now for a month. I keep thinking it’s going to stop, then it doesn’t!
Back to the GP on AskMyGP in the morning (hope I’m not told, ‘that’s life’ again).

Hi Wid ask your gp for a referral to gynacology and they will do a scan and check how things are. I was bleeding so heavily and after a few months on continuous it all settled down. Am on oestrogel few pumps daily and utrogestrone 1 tab vaginally. I had an ablation and havn't bleed since. Hope you get some answers. Also get your thyroid checked and ask for antibodies check as I had underactive thyroid and this can cause bleeding as all to do with hormones.

@BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants
Thanks. I had a transvaginal scan last year (all ok)and a consultation with the meno clinic in December where I was told to double up my daily Utrogestan, so don’t know why the bleeding has started again and been going on for a month!
Did your bleeding stop because of the ablation?
Thanks

I had changed to continuous 6 mths ago as bleeding so heavy on sequential and for the first few mths on continuous was spotting a lot and bleeding but now has settled and think ablation helped also. But before you do this please get your thyroid checked and ask for antibodies test as have underactive thyroid and this can affect hormones so causes heavy bleeding so since started thyroid medication also helped. Hope you get some relief as is draining.
What oestrogen are you on? I am on Oestrogel and take 2-3 pumps daily along with 100 utrogestrone. Maybe you need to get this balance that suits you right and play around with it but check thyroid as could be the cause of bleeding.

@BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants sorry missed your reply.
I’m on 4 pumps a day and 200mg of Utrogestan- the consultant from the meno clinic said I either had to have the coil or double up the Utrogestan.
The bleeding stopped suddenly on 16 March but I’ve got a scan booked for 2 April. Although the bleeding has stopped, I’m now getting twinges in my pelvic area and feeling bloated!

The scan will be great and hopefully will give you some answers. I would also as I previously said get thyroid checked and ask for antibodies check as I had underactive thyroid and made my periods so heavy and once started medication have not had a bleed since so not sure whether is that or the ablation, still feel bloated though.
