Pelvic Pain

I last had a period in July 22 so am in menopause. I was previously diagnosed with 2 large fibroids but nothing was done about them as they weren't causing me any problems. Never been on HRT or anything. The last couple of weeks I've had occasional twinges of pain in my lower pelvis, almost the feeling you get before starting a period. A bit like a heavy, bearing down kind of feeling down below.( I've never given birth as I became a mum through adoption). No actual bleeding or anything and no pain on urinating. The feeling was mainly at night when lying down. However, the last couple of days it's got worse and I'm now getting occasional sharp pain twinges during the day. It's relieved by a hot water bottle. I'm overdue for a smear and will be booking one as soon as GP opens again, although I dread anyone touching me in that area. I keep thinking I'm going to have a period, it's that kind of feeling. I'd be grateful for any advice as I'm imagining cervical cancer etc (my life has been blighted by cancer, lost both parents young and husband recently diagnosed so I'm getting a bit obsessed about it).

Also, forgot to add I've had cramp like feelings in my groin area which were quite bad the other day, I was walking a bit like John Wayne, but they have gradually worn off.

Hi. It could be vaginal atrophy or as it’s now called genitourinary symptoms of menopause. It causes discomfort but is easily remedied with HRT cream or pessaries x

Ask your GP if you can be prescribed Ovestin cream to try. It’s worth giving it a go x
