New drug to treat hot flushes

Anyone else seen this article ? I thought the 'blockbuster drug' line was maybe over selling it a bit given that if I understand the trial correctly it's showing an improvement for an additional 15% of women in the trial over and above the placebo. Especially as I'd have thought HRT is likely to be the first choice for most women given that it has other benefits plus the safety data much better known as in use for a long time. Though obviously this is a really useful extra option for those who can't take HRT or have bad side effects.

"A large clinical trial of fezolinetant published in March showed that after 12 weeks of use it reduced the frequency of hot flushes by about 60% in women with moderate or severe symptoms, compared with a 45% reduction in those who received a placebo."

Unfortunately those results yet again shows that placebos are pretty effective if you believe it's working! I'm on the natural remedies myself, friend sent Ayurvedic pills that seem to help, expensive placebos!!! I won't take hormones

I suspect a mix of placebo effect & time - I've been fortunate enough that (so far!) when I've had frequent hot flushes they've only been an issue for a month or so then passed off.
