Can peri cause/trigger Rosacea?

Although I have always had sensitive skin I have never, until recently (I’m 50), experienced anything like Rosacea.

I am wondering if I have developed it?
Every morning I wake with a redness across my cheeks and around my nose. It’s red with tiny red spots (these little spots are also on my nose). Some days it’s worse than others. I’m using a green colour corrector under my bb cream to try and hide it but wondering what is causing it.

I am also under a lot of stress (caring for mum with Alzheimer’s), have two teens with their ongoing teen woes and chronic digestive issues which has also very much flared up over the last 5 years (tried absolutely everything to calm this to no avail). Combined with peri it’s all a recipe for disaster!

Could peri be contributing to this? I’ve tried hrt but it just flared up my digestive issues even more.

I had awful rosacea/spots etc when mine started. The only thing that cleared it up was eventually getting a medicated skin & me subscription. It worked though.

Thanks CourtenayDevon perhaps I’ll have a look.

My skin went bad and I thought it was peri menopause but always had really good clear skin. Turned out after I got bloods checked for under active thyroid and started on meds for that it is back to normal nearly. Also skin was very dry but also changed taking my utrogesteron from orally to vaginally as less side effects. No harm getting bloods checked and ask for specific thyroid check and antibiodies.

Meant to say you sound like you have so much to cope with and usually all these things would be easy but throw in peri and low moods, less energy, lack of sleep it takes it's toll. Keep a food diary also and see what foods are affecting you the most. I had to give up dairy as made me vomit and gluten made me so ill and think as we get older and in peri that these issues can come to light more. Look after yourself get bloods done and keep the food diary as then you can see what is making you feel the worst.

Rosacea is an autoimmune condition. It is entirely possible the stress you have been under, both external and internal has triggered it.

I have rosacea. I’m vert fair and always been prone to ruddy skin. Stress doesn’t help, certain foods trigger mine and alcohol. Soolantra from the GP helped get mine under control then ultra gentle, pared back skin products. Worth looking googling gut biome link too.
