HRT, migraines and anxiety

I'm 49 and suffer from hormonal migraines and anxiety. I take sumatriptan and sertraline for these.

I've been struggling with symptoms of perimenopause for a few years - night sweats, brain fog, memory, worsening anxiety & migraines, restless legs, more frequent and heavier (or sometimes lighter) periods, exhaustion etc.

I tried Evorel Sequi patches 2 years ago but after 2 months felt that my anxiety had got so much worse that I couldn't stand it and stopped them (probably should have given them longer though)

I'm going back to my dr next week to see if there's an alternative but wondered whether there's anything I could request from anyone who's tried anything else? I'm always nervous about making my migraines worse but I'm willing to try anything at the moment as I feel so awful all round.

I wasn’t absorbing patches and so have recently swapped to a spray called Lenzetto. It’s only been a few weeks so unsure if it’s working, but it’s easy to use and not at all messy.

Thanks that's interesting, I'll mention the spray.

I am also on sertraline for anxiety so no problem there either.

I take beta blockers as a migraine preventative ( as well as Oestrogel HRT and Sumitriptan) and these have the happy side-effect of dealing with anxiety too. Might these help you? It’s a treatment for regular/ chronic migraine.

Do you remember if it was when you were using your progesterone and oestrogen patches or just oestrogen patches that your anxiety was worse. As it may have been the progesterone which made your anxiety worse. There is many different combinations of HRT, there is the spray, as mentioned above, the gel, both of these you need to take your progesterone separately instead of in combined patches as you did previously.
