I have been struggling for the last 2 1/2 years, have pain in joints and muscles, hurts to walk, have flushing and hot sweats all night, never have more than 2 hours sleep a night as every time I drop of I’m awake again due to sweating and boiling hot, don’t ever feel cold anymore. I have been on evorel patches for 18 months, no difference at all, I have 3 weeks ago had a full hysterectomy, just hoping someone has some advice as what to try, I have read that some women don’t absorb the patches, also have read about utrogeston wondering if I need this, please help feel lost, hoping you lovely knowledgeable ladies might have some suggestions

Thank you for the advice, I was wondering wether I should ask for gel oestrogen as perhaps I’m not absorbing the patches, will try an increase first, thanks

I use gel, OP - the little Sandrena sachets. They always seem to be available (hurrah) and they come in different doses (0.5 and 1.0) so you can mix-and-match your desired dose from day to day. I got used to using them really quickly. Very quick drying, and convenient.

It was my GP surgery's pharmacist (wonderful woman) who sorted me out with a massive bagful of boxes of sachets: about 6 months' worth, IIRC. I think she was a sister-in-arms!

I had a total hysterectomy in July. I don't take progesterone any longer as I don't have a uterus. I understand some women who have had endometriosis might need to do this post-hysterectomy, if there's a chance it is growing elsewhere.

I don't miss the progesterone at all. I wondered if being without my Mirena would make a difference, but my sleep and general mood seem just fine. It's good to know that the part of the HRT that has been linked to breast cancer (a very small relative risk, though) is now no longer necessary for me.

The specialist warned me I might need a higher dose of oestrogel, but I haven't found that I do.
