What type of HRT to try next?

Hi ladies, I was on oestrogel and ultrogestan for 3 months, after which I was transferred to Everol conti due to stock issues. I had 5 bleeds on Everol, 19 days apart each time, which have been investigated and the hospital have suggested that I don’t get on with Everol Conti and to go back to the original preparation. However, I got very dry skin and irritated with the oestrogel, and I also feel more stable with the 24/7 dose so I’d like to stay on a patch if possible.
Has anyone had similar issues? I’ve got a call with the doc tomorrow so I’m thinking my options would be everol, Estradot or lenzetto, but not sure which would be my first choice…

Everol conti is for when you have been over 12 months without a period so are youmenopausal or peri? Sounds like you were maybe having breakthrough bleeds. Where you taking utrogestan continuously or 12-14 days a month. I have 50 oestrogen patch and 12 days of utrogestan. Think there is a few oestrogen only patch brands isnt there. There is Estraderm too. There is also everel Sequi which has both oestrogen and oestrogen and progesterone patches in

Passthecake30 · 29/10/2023 15:49

I’m menopausal, I was taking ultrogestan every day. Before the patches I hadn’t had a bleed for over a year, and then previous one was a year before that. The patches appear to have thickened my womb lining, resulting in the bleeds.

Thanks, esdraderm is now going on the list as an option!

Lenzetto is a spray. On my px is dosent have a patch brand sometimes I get everel sometimes estrderm.

Thethruththewholetruth · 29/10/2023 17:17

I’ve just been moved to eatraderm from estridot due to stock issues and I really do t like it, they seem to fall off all the time. Never had that issue before, unless I’m doing something wrong?!? I had a reaction everol

mouche202 · 29/10/2023 17:25

I liked Estradot but had to move to Everol due to stock issues. Everol is OK but the patches are big and can be a bit itchy.

Passthecake30 · 29/10/2023 17:27

I think Everol would be my first choice - just the oestrogen patch rather than the combined as before, alongside ultrogestan. Hopefully that combination will sort out the intermittent bleeding (otherwise I’ll have to consider the merina)

Estraderm are awful. I called my pharmacy after two patches and got Everol again.

Estraderm go wrinkly and come off. Everol are great. I sometimes forget to take the old patch off and they stay on no issues for a week.

Moredarkchocolateplease · 29/10/2023 17:38

@Passthecake30 I've gone for a mirena and it's been issue free.

Utrogestan didn't work for me. The advantage of the mirena is it does the progesterone job on any strength of patch.

Christine0708 · 29/10/2023 17:58

@Thethruththewholetruth @Moredarkchocolateplease where are you sticking the esterderm. I stick to my bum and not had any problems, do prefer the everol though.

Moredarkchocolateplease · 29/10/2023 17:59

@Christine0708 yes on my bum. Everol doesn't shift though.

Passthecake30 · 29/10/2023 19:25

Thanks @Moredarkchocolateplease can I ask what made you go for the mirena? I think I’ll be trying a new combi and if I still have the bleeding go for the mirena. The insertion and removal scares me as I’m a wuss..

Moredarkchocolateplease · 29/10/2023 19:27

@Passthecake30 utrogestan made me feel suicidal. So it was the mirena or give up on HRT.

I didn't think about the insertion within an hour of it going in. I mean yes, a bit ouchy for a while but it was not that bad.

Me too. Life on the Mirena is so much better than oral progesterone.

@Moredarkchocolateplease thanks, glad it’s working out for you.

For over 5 years I’ve been trying to get HRT, Dr point blank refuses!
how are you all getting it??

Passthecake30 · 29/10/2023 20:34

@Bertiesmum3 I just listed my symptoms and the doc was happy to give it to me, I only had a phone appointment.

OP posts:
Moredarkchocolateplease · 29/10/2023 20:40

@Bertiesmum3 my GP wanted me to try it.

If they won't say yes:
Get a new GP
Use the NICE guidelines
Tell them you want a trial. If they refuse complain to the practice manager.

I’ve tried 4 drs, apparently it’s the surgeries thing not to give it

I’ve had bloods done and it’s been confirmed, apparently our surgery don’t prescribe HRT, I’ve seen 4 different drs!

Moredarkchocolateplease · 30/10/2023 17:51

Can you afford a private GP?

Locally we have several who are doing private menopause consults. A couple of hundred pounds for Initial consult and the n a few follow ups.

Moredarkchocolateplease · 30/10/2023 17:52

Am astounded that a whole surgery can refuse HRT ( I believe you, but it's shocking!)

That's like saying they don't prescribe asthma meds!!!

Passthecake30 · 30/10/2023 18:39

@Bertiesmum3 thats ridiculous. Are there any other surgeries local to you? I’d consider moving if I were you.

Doc rang, I’m going on Everol 50 and ultrogestan, with a review after 3 months. Hopefully the intermittent bleeding that I had on Everol conti won’t reappear. Can’t wait to get it, brain fog is shocking today.

OP posts:
Moredarkchocolateplease · 30/10/2023 19:18

OP don't be afraid to ask to increase the patch strength. 50 didn't touch the sides for me and I still have awful memory on 100.

Good luck with the Utrogestan.
