Weakfish bladder. Do you dehydrate for 'events'?

Discovered this recently with a couple of mates 55+ who barely drank anything if they knew we had a day out 'doing things' (we were on holiday together, curt-break style). One up super-early to have a tea, so have a wee before going out for the day.

Both said they hydrated at night and expected to have to get up at least once overnight to wee, while on holiday, so not all the time.

I can see their thinking!

I have a three hour concert coming up in early Dec, evening (in a cathedral, so not ' modern amenity central' 😂. I'd generally expect to wee once in that time, esp if I'd had 2 wines, say, over the previous 2 hours.

Does anyone else deliberately dehydrate?

Yes I absolutely do this. Like if we're having a family day out and if I don't know if I'll have access to a toilet. Or if I am going on a long journey.

Very unhealthy and bad for the kidneys but better than wetting myself!

Been doing this for about 20 years. I don't go out as much these days so I don't do this as often as I used to.

If you have overactive bladder, or an event like you describe, you can get an drug called Desmopressin from your GP.

It's often counter productive to reduce fluid intake because the urine becomes so concentrated that it irritates the bladder even when a small amount is there.

My bladder was like this but I haven't had problems since I started using Oestrogel four years ago.

Dehydration just makes me need to pee more. My bladder can store lots of watery urine but only a small amount of strong dehydration urine.

Thanks. I'm already on HRT, but I do find that when I Ped, it's usually not much.

It sounds as if you need to use vaginal estrogen as well @Fordian . This is also absorbed by the bladder (through the vaginal walls) and it makes the lining less irritatable.
Ask your GP for it or you can by Gina over the counter.
Ovestin is the other choice- a cream- Gina ( Vagifem on prescription) is a tiny pellet you insert.

Also caffeine and alcohol are known irritants for bladders :)

Vaginal oestrogen!

Needed as well as the HRT.

I don’t do this but I do avoid any drinks right before something like the concert you describe. So no wine (or soft drinks).
