Getting my coil removed privately

I’ve given the mirena coil a go, but after 3 months I feel lousy, I’m sleeping badly and I know I felt better when I was taking progesterone cyclically, in the two weeks break I felt fabulous and slept 7-8 hours a night. I’m down to 5 now and have gone from enjoying my life to feeling like I’m just going through the motions. I’m devastated that I’ve been give a date in 3.5 weeks time for the nurse to take it out. Anyone know the best way of getting it done privately?

I’ve read online that it’s safe to remove it yourself. I’m not too sure about that, but perhaps it’s my best option.

I took mine out, if you can feel the strings you can. I'd had enough of the agony and 6mo of constant bleeding! It didnt hurt at all, the wingy bits just fold back and its very narrow.

There’s nothing to removing it, very simple as long as you can reach the strings.

I removed mine, just did it slowly and it was fine.

I felt dreadful when I had the coil, its been out for 6 months now and I feel so much more like myself. I.e. less groggy, less tired and less emotional/reactive.

Thanks so much for sharing that link and for all your comments. I put the Best of Sade on and lay down on my bed, put a glove on, took me about 1 minute of fishing to find it and then I slowly pulled it out, didn’t feel a thing, and it was out before the first song was finished.

I also noticed online that sexual health clinics can remove them, my local one has walk in clinics.

whathaveidone3 - did you go back to taking oral progesterone?
