Won't stop bleeding

I have always had problems with my periods. When I was young I used to just bleed and bleed and could never get a pattern so I was put on Northisterone tablets. This settled things down and then when of age I went on to a Northisterone based pill and this kept periods at bay.

However Doctors think it's weird but I have spoke to many and they have said it is a thing it is called sinking... My daughter started and it made me start and I have had regular periods for the past 2 years however this last year I have non stop been bleeding, it has got me really down and feeling awful. I went to doctors they put me on 5mg Northisterone to stop the bleeding and hope to reset my cycle. Anyway this it did, while I was not bleeding they did lots of tests and everything seemed ok so they have put the bleeding down to perimenopause (I am 42). I still bleed lots and now and again I take 5mg Northisterone (also known as a period delay tablets) to stop my period and give me a break but Doctors don't want me to keep taking these but have said because of my other health problems there is nothing else they can do or put me on so I am devasted, I can't cope with this bleeding. It is full on contstant heavy bleeding. One Doctor said maybe try the mariner but I read up about this and I don't think it sounds good.
I just wondered if there are any other ladies out there with the same situation or similar and have they found anything that helped...

Thanks

I saw a gynae consultant. He said that the best way to stop the bleeding is progesterone in the womb. So a mirena coil.

My GP had spoken with a gynacologist and who did say it was worth trying the mirena coil.
However due to other health issues my GP is unsure if this would work for me, so the latest, she was going to have discussions with other GP's and Gynocoligsts and see if they can come up with anything as it is really getting me down.

If you aren't planning on ttc again have you looked at having an ablation? Mine failed, after around 3 months (even with mirena), but from what I understand that's really quite rare.

ETA: when I say failed, the bleeding started again after 3 months & was back to the same level of heaviness around 12-18 months later so I did have a bit of a break.

I had a similar problem when they put me on the Mirena. I bled solidl for 4 months exceot for th break when they gave me Northisterone . So I now take progesterone in addition to the Mirena and it has generally stopped the bleeding (aged 54).

@mooneigh did you ever have a transvaginal scan? It would show if you have a multi fibroid womb, that’s what I have. It causes bleeding, a lot of bleeding every month.

You poor woman sounds like hell. Hope you are taking iron as you must be anaemic. Request a scan so they can investigate as there could be fibroids etc. Also get a full bloods done including thyroid as I was bleeding loads and had underactive thyroid. Try to rule everything out but you have to insist on these tests and don't let them fob you off. You need to be scanned and under a gyneacologist so you can get the treatment you need. Hope you get something sorted soon.

Thank you, I have had a few blood tests taken and also they have scanned and everything looked normal. So bit of an odd one. Due to this, they are now saying maybe peri menapause as they have ran out of ideas.
