Hormonal insomnia-did yours get any better on HRT?

My insomnia is awful-the worst symptom of menopause by far for me. Multiple waking and early waking when I used to sleep so well. Dread going to sleep now and impacts everything.
Really hoping HRT would sort it especially after reading Progesterone helps sleep.
Just started last week so very early days but no change as yet. Was wondering if upping my estrogen would help. Or adding testosterone would. Will carry on at this level and see if it improves but wondering what success others have had when changing doses/levels?
Have obs tried Melatonin, magnesium etc..

@GoodVibesHere sending empathy.
I too am the same. I also have a fibroid which Is causing me no end of bother.

HRT doesn't do much for me either. The anxiety is crazy though and as you say, lack of confidence. I don't know what to do. I also need a new job, but incapable of doing much these days unfortunately.

I'm also a huge mess.

Totally helped. I have mirena & 3 pumps of oestogel
It has worked wonders on my sleep. Hopefully will continue x

No it’s done nothing for my sleep, sadly. Been on oestrogel and progesterone tablets for 2 years. Going to the gp tomorrow to see if they can recommend anything. Good luck to all of you with sleep troubles, it’s awful isn’t it x

I drag myself through each day like a zombie feeling like I could fall asleep standing but as soon as I get to bed or lie on the sofa for a nap I’ve no chance. I just toss and turn. It’s hideous. I’ve gained weight, feel like I’m barely holding my job together, my house is a tip and I have no energy to do anything that might make me feel better.
I used to get like this for a few days with PMT but at least I’d have a pendulum effect of feeling ace and energised when I’d had my period. Now that’s gone and I’m left with the downward swing stuck on permanent.

@BelleBoyd I am going through the same horrible insomnia like you and was wondering whether the HRT is working for you by now ? I am 2 weeks in and see no improvement so far :-/ X

BelleBoyd · 26/02/2024 12:05

@Pearl001 its so awful I remember but good news is it did work! Sleep really well now totally back to normal. I think it did take a while and I can’t remember how long. I had definitely got into a rut with the not sleeping so it takes a while to feel normal again. Are you taking Utrogestan in the evening? Apparently absorbs better when you’ve eaten so after dinner or snack. I take mine every night at 10pm and go to sleep around 10.30/11pm. Are you feeling better in general? If no change at all in another couple of weeks I’d be thinking about upping the estrogen but I didn’t have to. I hope you get some sleep soon 🤞
