Perimenopause at 35?

i was hoping for some advice!

my mum has only just finished menopause at 58 but her mum had finished completely by 45. I have a range of symptoms that make me wonder if I could be perimenopausal…

*period cycle has gone from 28/30 days to now 25/26 days

*periods are lighter

*horrific anxiety and mood swings for 10 days before period

*Acne!! Never suffered from spots now I get really angry sore huge spots on my chin, breasts and back.

*no libido whatsoever

*dry mouth

*dry itchy skin

Does this sound like it? My gp has put me on the pill to see if they can regulate my hormones but said will refer me to gynae if no change in 3 months

I definitely noticed a hormonal shift at 36 but after blood tests and scans to rule out any deficiencies I went on the pill and feel a lot better. It is possible, but rare and early. I hope that you feel better soon!

I was definitely perimenopausal at 40. (Looking back) shorter and lighter periods, that acne on my neck you describe!

I had a baby at 37 so thought it was just tiredness or something. Fully post menopause by 45. (is no periods for 2 years)

Not that rare. Menopause before 40 is rare but not peri.

Yes, I second getting on the pill.

We talk about peri like it's this defined stage that one minute you're not in, then all of a sudden you are. But I'm not sure that's how it is. My experience was my periods and my pmt/moods becoming worse and worse from mid-30s onwards. By 45 the symptoms ramped up enough to want to try HRT.

I would try the pill or Mirena coil if I were in your position. Especially if you want contraception too.

When I look back, I lost a lot of hair when I was 40 and it never grew back. GP had no explanation for it, just told me to take iron. I think that was the start for me, which means peri can last longer than 10 years.

I am 34 and told by my fertility clinic that I am probably perimenopausal. I have started spotting for days before my period, have occasional palpitations, occasional hot flushes, mood swings etc. my AMH is incredibly low for my age and my FSH is slightly elevated. So it is possible.
