Evorel Sequi

Hi. I am new here. I will be on Evorel Sequi 3 weeks tomorrow (started Mon 14th August). Week 1 & 2 (placebo effect?) I felt super (perhaps I was optimistic for a quick fix) but from a couple of days into taking the Conti, I haven't felt myself. For those unware: Evorel Sequi is 2 weeks on Evorel 50 and 2 weeks on Evorel Conti. (Evorel 50 is Estrogen only and Evorel Conti is Estrogen & Progesterone). I am suffering from awful anxiety, low mood, feeling flat, no motivation, simple jobs seem impossible, I catastrophize everything. Praise God I have a wonderful husband who (is not a perimenopause expert) who goes the extra mile to help and is always checking on me (last night he had a date night for us) - sorry, but I love him so much... Anyway, back to this. How long will it take for Evorel Sequi to kick in? My main problem is mood - mine is pretty much all mental health related (although it would be lovely to get rid of the sweaty skin). Sorry for being so long-winded, but I've been anxious my whole life, people pleaser, perfectionist, worrier ... my GP changed my antidepressant a while back (when I first had these perimenopause symptoms to Venlafaxine - I take a 75mcg and a 37.5 mcg daily). The Venlafaxine did clear up joint pain I was having a hard time with,I must say.

Anyway, I'm off on a tangent again. My main question is, are there any ladies out there who would have a positive story - will Evorel Sequi kick in eventually or me? Is 3 weeks to soon to expect changes? Also, I've never had headaches and have a dull headache now and then too. Do side effects like this general go after a while?

My main issue is: will Evorel Sequi kick in soon? Will my mood lift? Will by anxiety go? I really need someone to help me. Thank you in advance.

I didn't get on with the sequi patches. I'm now on the gel everyday and had a mirena coil fitted. Still waiting to see if it's the fix I need. I'm not convinced yet

SammieBM · 03/09/2023 21:43

Thank you. What are your peri symptoms? X

All of the usual ones. But the first ones that stood out to me were achey fingers and legs. I'd wake up with them and few like an old person. Incontinence too. I also felt so low. Not depressed but just really couldn't be bothered by anything.
Lots of little niggley things that as one offs I wouldn't be bothered about but when I started to think about them and list them, it formed a picture.
As I said before, I'm definitely not 100% back to where I want to be , but hopefully moving in the right direction
Good luck

Hi
sorry to hear you’re struggling. I’m in pretty much the same boat as you. Im
on my second month of the patches now & like you I felt great for the first 2 weeks then all the symptoms came back. I’m now back on the first 2 week ones & feel great again. I’m dreading next Wednesday when I have to put the progesterone ones on. I did speak to my doctor & he advised I try the full 3 months 🤦‍♀️

AInightingale · 09/09/2023 15:51

It's the progesterone element, lots of women complain about it. And it's actually the dodgy part of HRT, oestrogen only creates no add. cancer risk for younger women. Have you considered gel and utrageston?

anotherdisaster · 10/09/2023 11:23

I'm in the same boat. Literally just started the same patches as you. No change yet but after reading multiple threads on here I'm now not feeling confident about this at all. Starting to wonder why they prescribe this if noone has seen any positive outcomes!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/09/2023 19:43

@anotherdisaster try not to worry. I felt like you and I googled ‘positive experiences of progesterone patches’ because I felt like everything out there was super negative. I was dreading the progesterone weeks. I’m a few days into my first few weeks of progesterone and it’s not been that bad. I feel really tired, I’ve been a bit nauseous, and I feel like my period is due but other than that, nothing especially awful. My anxiety has been a lot less, and hardly any palpitations. It’s definitely worth trying it, try not to read too much doom and gloom and just see how it works for you.

TomaytoTomaato · 12/09/2023 19:55

I'm on month 4 and it's been really interesting to read all your experiences.

I've found things improve on weeks 1 and 2 but when I move onto the conti, my mood drops significantly. I've had a lot of other life stresses that coincided with me starting HRT so wasn't sure if these were playing a part.

Think I'll book in with my doctor for a review (had one last month but wanted to give the patches slightly longer due to my other stresses) and see if other options suit me better

AInightingale · 14/09/2023 11:57

I know it does work, because I started HRT during the acute shortage of patches in 2020 and was initially on tablets. They weren't very good at all and they upset my insides a bit. When I moved onto Sequi after eight months, I noticed an improvement within the first few weeks. If it's any help, I think they are better on the fleshiest bit of your thigh (ie the back, ie your arse) than on the front, if you can get them to stay on.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/09/2023 22:19

Can anyone who has been on Evorel sequi shed any light as to when I might expect my period? I started the patches on day 5 if my cycle, and I’m now on day 22 ( so technically due on really any time) except I’m only day 17/18 of my patches. I still have til a week on Sunday until I finish the progesterone and go back to just the oestrogen. Is that when I can expect to come on?
I’m climbing snowdon next weekend, I could really do with at least being prepared if I’m expecting a 5 days overdue first HRT flooding extravaganza up a mountain with no toilets…. 🤦‍♀️

Beamur · 14/09/2023 22:26

I'm on these.
First couple of weeks were amazing. Then it levelled out and I could tell the difference between the two.
Few months later and the bumps are smoothing. My mood overall is good. I'm definitely less grumpy. Joint pain has hugely reduced and I'm pretty satisfied with how I feel.
I need to take some extra vitamins and my iron and calcium were low. This is now rectified and has made a big difference to my energy levels.
I stick mine on my stomach, under my pants.

JT69 · 14/09/2023 22:31

The same as many others. I feel great for 2 weeks and then plummet for the next two on progesterone. Been on it a year so I’m guessing it is what it is.

AInightingale · 14/09/2023 23:01

Yes, that sounds about right. You could delay it @thenewaveragebear1983 by sticking another conti patch on, for the sake of three days? I don't think it would do you any harm. Better than coming on up a mountain anyway.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/09/2023 23:12

@AInightingale so I expect to bleed on the oestrogen not the progesterone? Ok - I change patch on Sunday/Wednesday so if I change it on the Sunday after my hike I should be ok then. thank you!

Sussurations · 15/09/2023 04:38

I’ve recently started on these. It’s okay so far but I’m uncomfortably bloated (like
PMS) AND seem to
be putting on a spare tyre round my middle. I’d be interested to know if others have experienced this and whether it settles.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/09/2023 19:09

@Sussurations I had a few days where I felt uncomfortably bloated in my belly, really low down exactly like period pains. It’s gone now though.

Sussurations · 15/09/2023 19:28

Thank you @thenewaveragebear1983 i think I need to be patient and give it a good try. I didn’t get on well with the mini pill or the Mirena with similar symptoms but this isn’t so bad, so I hope it will settle down for me too.
