What does a vulva haemorrhoid feel like?!

I thought generally older women might have more knowledge about this, but at 53 I'm dealing with a wincing pain.

As I was wiping this morning it felt almost raw at one very specific spot, inside the main labia but to one side. I tried a bit of canestan, did not help. And then I realised I've got a tiny bit of referred pain kind of out from there and down the inside of my thigh.

In the end I tried to have a look, and it looks as if I've suddenly grown another bit of anatomy! A bit like one of the folds, but completely horizontal, if you think of a diagram of labia folds going north to south, this is east to west!

I've no idea, I assumed a varicose vein or haemorrhoid would look really dark, but this is the same colour as everything else.

Thank God this is anonymous, that's all I can say.

Any one any thoughts before I deal with the indignity of explaining to a receptionist tomorrow?

Have you unwittingly nicked yourself with a razor/has the hem of your underwear got caught up in your labia and rubbed it?
The thigh pain could be from a swollen node in your groin (as the nodes swell to "catch" anything in the bloodstream that might cause an infection if the vulva is injured).

LOL, can't remember the last time a razor was anywhere near, but the knicker thing is possible.. except its out of nowhere, and as far as I can tell, the skin isn't broken or raw as such. It just feels like that.

Your post reminded me that years ago I had a Bartholin cyst, and it's in almost exactly the same place, but feels and looks completely different.

It's a step forward though, thank you!

Please don’t feel obliged to give the receptionist chapter and verse, none of their business - ‘a gynaecological matter needing prompt attention ’ should cover it if they really have to know surely? Hope the GP can give reassurance and good advice v soon.

Great phrasing, thank you!
