How do you know if you're perimenopausal if you're using birth control, no periods but have no other symptoms?

I have had the implant for 15 years or so, only stopping to get pregnant twice. Periods have always been regular apart from the very first year I had it when they were less frequent. Recently my periods have been weird (for the last 6 months or so) - stop/start, lighter than usual, darker blood, and recently much further apart. My implant was changed in July, I mentioned my periods to the GP who said no way I was peri (too young). I assumed the new implant would kick start normal cycles again, but I still haven't had a period since May apart from some very light spotting in June and the tiniest of spots in the last day or so.

I am 38 and my mum said she was peri late 30s and had finished menopause by 43....so it sounds to me like I am going through the same, same age.

How would I know for sure though? So far, no other symptoms, apart from getting The Rage occasionally (sleep deprived though so understandable.) I have never suffered with PMS, pregnancy was easy, generally I don't seem to be afflicted with female hormonal suffering, for which I am very grateful.

No desire to stop the implant, it suits me, I don't want more kids.

Definitely not pregnant (2 tests BFN.)

Is it possible to go through peri without symptoms?

If so, is HRT recommended anyway to prevent osteoporosis etc?

I am 47 and still on the pill. And don’t have plans to stop until they say I have to. The only way the doctor could tell me if I was peri was to take me off the pill and check my levels.

I decided not to do that. I think I maybe as my periods are now spotting in between and the doctor has said peri can do that and the pills may just not be strong enough ( no idea what that means ). My sister was about this age it started. But like u have no real idea and am not coming off to find out

That's interesting. I think I'll give it a few more months then chat to the doctor again. As long as there's no consequences to early menopause if undiagnosed, that's fine, but NHS website suggests that hrt is needed if you're under 40.
