Been on gel and progesterone now for around 6 weeks paid private to see a specialist . 2 weeks ago increased to 3 pumps and 2 programs tablets at night . Felt really well and happy at first but these last few days my anxiety is through the roof . I'm crying today as I feel my anxiety is taking over my life . Hubby doesn't understand whatsoever and I feel like I totally get on his nerves in fact today he said do I play on it !!!
Is this the increase of the HRT causing these feelings ?

Hi , I feel the same and really don’t want to carry on with HRT z

The progesterone makes me anxious. When I took it sequentially I felt ok for the 14 days I didn’t take it, then when I started taking it, after a few days or a week I had trouble sleeping and felt wierd.

I have just completed3 weeks on citalopram as my anxiety has also gone through the roof. I linked it to my progesterone. 3 weeks ago I was ready to give it all up and just go cold Turkey. I’m feeling much better now. I feel like the world has been lifted from my shoulders.

@Frightenedbunny did you experience any side effects with the citalopram at all? My anxiety is also ramping up and feel unable to cope with life right now.

Frightenedbunny · 12/09/2023 20:44

@Sortmylifeout52 i take mine at night time. I felt a little nauseous and spaced out for the first few days but it gradually eased by the end of the week. I’m 3 weeks in now and honestly feel like a new person. Sleepless nights and waking through the night has stopped. It’s been well worth the rough few days. I can eventually see things differently and rationally too.
