Estrogel vs spray tan??

Probably vain of me but I'm wondering how Estrogel will affect my spray tan next week. I use two pumps and rub it into my inner thighs (plus take a progesterone tablet).

I can foresee the gel rubbing the colour off. I don't tan naturally so like a spray tan for while I'm in swimwear in holiday. Please tell me your success stories! Blush

Watching with interest..

I don’t think there is a way around it?

I didn’t find the gel wore off the tan but I did read that it might affect absorption of the oestrogen.

I had a similar issue when I went on holiday a few weeks ago. Will you be wearing a bikini? If not-I only wore a bathing costume one piece thing, so I switched to rubbing to Oestrogel into my tummy. I use two pumps morning and two pumps at night. The fake tan guide colour came off straight away and streaked all over my tummy. Next morning when I washed off the fake tan guide colour my stomach looked a bit paler than the rest of my body.
I continued applying to my stomach for the rest of the holiday and it stripped the fake tan off within a couple of days due to the high alcohol content I think.
If you're wearing bikinis it won't be a disaster but the fake tan will come off a lot sooner due to the alcohol.

I should add I didn't find any issues with absorption of the gel. I felt completely fine switching from thighs to stomach.

Put it on your bum cheeks. Unless you're a thong wearer on the beach.

JinglingSpringbells · 30/07/2023 14:33

This isn't covered in the patient leaflet :)

However it does say apply gel to clean, dry skin and the older leaflet used to say don't apply after using certain products (eg body washes, shower gels) as that can affect absorption. I've not read the whole leaflet for ages but there was definitely something like that years ago.

So...I would be wary of a fake tan on an area where you apply gel. The fake tan dyes your skin, and whether that 'layer' of tan affects absorption is unclear but possible.

I only ever use fake tan on my lower legs (not a beach lover) to just above the knee, when I wear dresses, for this reason, as I apply gel to my thighs and upper arms.

Not sure if bum cheeks will give the same absorption.

So it seems my worries are justified! Argh!

Bum cheeks is a good idea, I might ask the dr about that. I'm about to go for a restock of my HRT products so I wonder if there is an alternative to the gel.

TBH I doubt your GP will have a clue!

For anyone who was wondering... the dr said bum cheeks for the gel is ok for a short time (like a 1 week holiday) but I should monitor how I feel with this change.

I didn't confess about my spray tan conundrum, but I did point out that I would be slathered in a sun screen and after sun except for my bum as I am definitely not a thong wearer.
